Got it. That makes sense. I thought you meant that A Lick of Frost had the happy ending – and in one sense it did.

Besides being totally hot I love that Doyle can turn into different animals. Always been a long time fantasy – wouldn’t it be cool to become a bird and fly? Or a dolphin – I would love to be a dolphin.

    – they had the Anita Blake books in the children’s section! 😯 How could you classify these books as suitable for children? Someone made a very big mistake.

In the childrens section? 😯 Wow! I’m surprised that the parents didn’t gather with pitch forks. That’s a huge mistake.

I’ve never read any of these. I’m not sure how I’ve missed them…. Now I’ll have to check out the library and see if any aren’t checked out yet.

No, I don’t read her blog; I don’t want to know in advance what’s going to happen. I just note the date when the books come out on the website and that’s it.

Yes, I was happy that the last Blake book got plot in it rather than just sex. With Merry Gentry, you never got that slow down on just sex: whenever you had it, something came out of it, it isn’t just for the heck of it.

True, I am glad to hear that she’s not done with Anita yet, I am intrigued to find out what happens with Haven, and the lion pride, though I already know that Joseph is toast for failing to come to their aid and has lost all protection.

I also want to find out if Richard ever grows up, of if he stays a petulant whiner who does more harm than good due to his emotional baggage. I have to say that when he was first introduced I liked him, but as time went on I just want him to either be severed from the triad or just killed outright as long as it doesn’t kill Jean Claude or Anita. He annoys me to no end at this point.

I really like how Nathaniel is becoming a stronger personality and no longer so submissive, it’s a nice change, shows he is growing and becoming more who he will be.

And for some reason I have always liked Micah, I have no idea why. Jean Claude is also my favorite, even when he’s being a PITA, I like him. Asher sometimes needs a kick in the butt though.

I was always a huge Jean Claude fan. Back when it was just him and Richard a friend and I used to have arguments over who was better for Anita. My friend was totally for Richard. And now even she wants Richard to take a hike! I like Asher as well. I hate to say it but if LKH had a long sex scene with JC, Asher and Anita I would be in heaven!

But I miss the mysteries and the cops – although I wish the head cop (cannot think of his name!) would get it together.

I think it’s Dolph. I wish he would get it together again.

Did anyone check out the comic book adaptation of Guilty Pleasures? It’s still only halfway through, but they’ve done a fairly good job of it (aside from it taking so darn long in between comics – I was spoiled with Star Wars comics regular, uninterrupted schedule). Didn’t help that Dable Brothers and Marvel decided to go their seperate ways half way through. At least Marvel still has the title.

I do have the hardcover collection of the first set of comic books. I really do like the art except for that one stupid curl on Anita’s forehead. I keep wanting her to brush it out of the frickin’ way. I’m interested to see what the new artist’s concept is like.

And yes, I’ve had more than enough of Richard whining. I’d love nothing better for her to kick him to the curb, if it didn’t kill the other two.

LKH had to quit with the cop stuff, it was giving her nightmares. She just couldn’t keep writing it anymore, too stressful. I can understand, but I wish she’d bring back some of the more interesting necromancer gigs Anita gets, since she still has to do those despite all the other monster politics going on.

I’d also like her to concentrate on the storyline a bit more and less on the sex, the sex is only interesting if there is something powerwise going on with it, but we don’t really need details when she is just feeding.

After all there is plenty going on without piling on the sex scenes. Lion pride stuff, sirens, vampire court, Mother Dark <– she's a big one…what is she going to do? She's scary beyond all. Not to mention everyone's increasing power ups and the problems those cause.

Anyway, I just finished Lick of Frost…I am sad and glad at the same time. I hope that the time frame of return will be short, I also hope that Merry becomes immortal, with all this attention from the Goddess, you would think that she wouldn’t be doing all this for a short term reign, and Merry’s mortality would make it that. Course I could be wrong in thinking that Merry is to be the ultimate Queen the Goddess is going for, she may just be the means to the end.

That last train of events was a bit unnerving, Taranis is definately losing it.

I used to buy every Anita Blake book the day it came out. After “Narcissus in Chains” I stopped buying them and I stopped reading the books after “Danse Macabre.”

I am NOT a fan of the auduer/arduer (however she spells it.) Can’t stand Anita anymore, too self-righteous and hypocritical. Too many boring sex scenes, not enough story.

If you want to try this series, personally I would stop at Obsidian Butterfly.

However, I still really enjoy the Merry Gentry series. I’m really looking forward to “Swallowing Darkness.” (That’s a terrible title.) My favorite guard is Rhys. I like the way he understands the modern world better then the other guards. I think that would be an advantage in a King because he would be able to deal with the outside world better then the others. REa

I wasn’t too impressed with Danse Macabre, but The Harlequin was very good. It was almost like the earlier books. It gave me back my faith in the storyline!

I’ve heard a few people say that “The Harlequin” was better then “Danse Macabre” and more like her earlier books. Maybe if the next book gets the same kind of reviews I might go back to reading them.

The Harlequin was good. Less sex, continuous plot line. She didn’t go off onto tangents that go nowhere. Definitely more of the older novels.

Danse Macabre was also good, too much going on to concentrate on the sex bits, a lot of monster politics, and plot. And Anita and Jean Claude finally told Richard where they stand among other things, I about cheered.

His emotional crap has nearly gotten them killed one too many times and they pretty much told him they’d had enough.

I would have to disagree with you about DM. That book pretty much had no plot. Just a lot of talking and boring sex, and then angsting about the sex. I ended up skimming the book. As a matter of fact, DM was the final straw that made me stop reading Anita Blake.

I kind of like the sex. 😳

I can see why the cop stuff gave LKH nightmares – reading it gave me nightmares! And I loaned them to my sister-in-law who loves Silence of the Lambs and she returned them saying they were too graphic – she only read part of the first one. Makes you wonder what Stephen King’s dreams are like!

The only thing she had done that I really, really disliked was Micah. He came out of nowhere and was too perfect. For a long time he was too one dimensional for me. But then she wrote the novella about him and I like him better.
