Right handed, but I’m ambidextrous when it comes to weapons (swords, throwing knives, polearms, etc.). 🙂

My mother is/was left handed and as a child at home and in school they forced her to use her right hand for everything, even to the point of tying her left hand behind her back to me sure she wouldn’t use it. As a result, she can’t write well with either hand (left because she wasn’t allowed to use it and right because it’s not her dominant hand). 😆 😆 I think they used to do that to every poor lefty back in the day. My mom told me the same thing.
Only Lefties are in their right mind 😆
My brother is left handed, but he taught himself to write right-handed instead when he was in school, which sort of does some rewiring in the brain 😕 . He thought he was doing it wrong when all the other kids were writing with their left hand.

My dad told me about that too… they used to smack his hand with a ruler.. I can peel potatoes better with my left hand then my right hand as a result of living with my dad…
I’m a righty and so is my sister. I was adpoted but my sister is their biological daughter and they where both left handed and she came out right handed
I am right handed but there are some things I do better with my left hand. My dad was left handed and I sometimes wonder if I shouldn’t have been but was forced to use my right hand in school.
I *said* right handed, but I’ve more or less trained myself to use my left hand (that cut tendon on my left hand did wonders for that, the physiotherapist basically said – to get your strength back, do EVERYTHING with your left hand that you would normally do with your right). However, that being said, my writing with my left hand looks like a kindergardener did it. 😆
While I was reading a pregnancy book, I learned that there is a connection between left handed babies and stressfull pregnancies. I thought that was interesting. My son is left handed and the pregnancy was certainly stressful.

My mother had a friend who went through the same thing! He can’t write well with either hand too as a result. I’m a righty trying to teach myself to be ambidextrous.

But it’s odd, my mother made me learn to use scissors with my right hand, because kids scissors used to be pretty bad. So, when I started working with copper, I used tin snips with my right hand. And to stamp copper, I held the punch in my left, (like a pencil, sort of) and hammer with my right. So as a result of all that snipping and hammering, my right hand is notably stronger. So now I use my left hand for writing and delicate work, and my right hand for things requiring strength, and for petting strange dogs. 😆
With woodcarving chisels and mallet, I’m ambidextrous, thank goodness. Takes time to learn, but makes getting at funny angles so very much easier. (I’ve heard there’s actually a shop in Europe where they make architectural-type wood carvings professionally, and every half hour or so, they ring a bell or make some other announcement and whatever the carvers are doing, they have to switch hands.) 😮
