I think I have the name from “Princess Bride” stuck in my head and thats why I think your name wrong.
Dragunz cavurn… I would never get that wrong.
ROFLMAO! Now your just bein’ silly! π πMay 3, 2007 at 3:52 am #555223Nirvanacat13 wrote:Just a question, as you all are painting, do you tend to do a whole base coat and then do broader areas or will you pic a patch to paint and then finish it untill it’s done…..For instance on say a griffin, will you get a base coat and do larger swaths of color untill you get the desired effect? or will you Completely finish the beak and then the claws, and then the head, and then the primaries….Does that make any sense?
On zhe griffins I always have some sort of base coat, at least in certain sections. I always start with the wings.
On the Kirins I always start with the scales, and I don’t use base coats on those.May 3, 2007 at 5:23 am #555224Greater Basilisk wrote:Nirvanacat13 wrote:Just a question, as you all are painting, do you tend to do a whole base coat and then do broader areas or will you pic a patch to paint and then finish it untill it’s done…..For instance on say a griffin, will you get a base coat and do larger swaths of color untill you get the desired effect? or will you Completely finish the beak and then the claws, and then the head, and then the primaries….Does that make any sense?

On the Kirins I always start with the scales, and I don’t use base coats on those.I do a base coat on Griffins, then the body, then the wings, then claws/tallons, then the beak last and then any final details I want to add or need to touh up last. I have only done two kirins, the first one was layer by layer of color because it was a phoenix one…not hard to do. Then the one for water was interesting LOL…that was kinda do different sections as it came, also had to do it in layers as well….Why, are you having issues hun?? π
May 3, 2007 at 5:54 pm #555225I don’t have issues….I have a complete subscription π
No, really, it’s just I know my style and was curious how everyone else did theirs. I tend to get REALLY detail oriented on one small space and completely finish it before moving on the the next part. Like on the dragons, I’ll completely finish the wings and then the head, and then the claws…such that each is actualy a finished product before I move on to the next part. Only thing that sucks is if I mess up and get stray paint over the finished parts…doesn’t leave much room for error. =P

I do ALMOST the same thing with the dragons except I like to do the body first, just in case the body turns out differently and I have to change the rest to match up. π

May 3, 2007 at 9:35 pm #555230I base coat everything…usually black, but sometimes white. Then the body colors and then fine details. Wonderful thing about acrylics, they layer nicely.
