I’ve thought of painting a PYO, but I don’t want to take the time!!! I’d rather draw!

and sorry I did do a search for these and found 3 pages of threads and still did not find the answer I was looking for.
(Or I overlooked it if it’s there.) πWill you ever have some like the one on the right (painted the same) for sale in your store?
I know you have a birman but I prefer this one to face of the birman. And what about the PYO large flap cats in different fur and eyes for memorial.
Will that be soon…like this sometime year or next year?I would love to make one to resemble my long fur female brown-tabby who passed away. π
The flapcat that is painted is an old production siamese large flap cat. We don’t make those anymore but they show up on Ebay occasionally.
I would like to do a series of pyo flapcats, or just plain cats in many body and fur types so people can paint them to match their own cats. I would definitely want to paint one myself to look like every cat I have loved, and it would be cool to have a variety of cats to put together in a little flock.
That is a project I am eager to start in my next life, once we are settled up here for good.March 30, 2008 at 8:02 pm #682604Please make a Main Coon!! Umm though you’ll need to do a male and female with the sexual Dimorphism of that breed.
And if in the molding process(Of a female) it’s ear tips come off, or for any other reason, I’ll definitely take it!! ‘Cause then I won’t have to alter it.March 31, 2008 at 9:02 am #682605Lupin wrote:Please make a Main Coon!! I have only owned male animals, and that included my main coon… who recently pasted last year… would you have any photos of the differences? What are they exactly? Of course I vote male for any sexual dimorphism in any animal… since like I said, I’ve never owned a female animal in my life.

I’ll have to hunt up pics,so it may take a bit(As usual I’m at work) but one of the most noticeably is sheer size Females are almost never larger than 12 lbs, while the smallest of Males are no smaller than 12lbs, with closer to 20lbs being the Majority. And Males are also alot “Heavier” in Build. There’s always exception to every rule as well, but generally my experience has also been with a heavier Maneing/ruffing on Males(though the females look “Softer”), and young males may look like old females. As you know though Winter coat’s also “look” different, and the Males at most shows(and in pics) seem to be shown in “Summer” coat, and Females in “Winter” so that could just be a “trick” that results in contradictory images. If I had access to my Links here I’d also show you pics of the difference between a fixed Male and female, since that’s where I’ve also seen the biggest size difference. I find that Coon Males get Huge when fixed and the girls stay smaller for some odd reason. π― Using Hibou Maine Coon pics. Though at least I could get 2 of each showing the seasonal coating fairly efficient. Though I hate using sources all from the same breeder. π

http://www.hiboucats.com/gallery/elanX.jpgSorry can’t figure out how to put the Pics themselves up. Or that HUGE alter Male!!! Still Long and short Males are more “Everything” while females are still rather large and impressive. Umm I could almost put it the same way as if you were looking at Gorillas, Females are pretty impressive, but not anywhere near a Male, especially a Silverback.
Edited to add a simpler way of putting the Structural, The Males are Heavier in Build, which also leads to the larger size.
April 1, 2008 at 5:06 am #682609I never thought cats were dimorphic.
To me it has to do with color or appendages/growths such as antlers.
Male/female cats can’t be told apart 100% of the time just by looking. It would be different if males had one more toe, or were always a certain color.
I’ve never thought size was a dimorphic trait? You can tell my Welsh pony stallion apart from the mares just based on size and confirmation, but don’t consider them dimorphic.
I’ll have to go look up the definition.
I would love PYO cats! How about a cat that is laying down like the wolf???
April 1, 2008 at 5:44 am #682610You could be right but I have always been told(read, all that stuff), so have it that dimorphic means when there is a marked difference between individuals of different sex’s. Human are classified as Dimorphic(At least that’s what all my Bio Prof’s have said) as well. Most cat’s aren’t, I would never be able to say that Siamese are, or even the Sphinx’s, there may be a slight masculinity to the males but not really that much. I know that there are a number of Dog breeds that are Dimrophic as well, though other’s not so much, I mean I can’t tell if one Greyhounds a Male or Female with out looking very readily!! Then again maybe it’s just one of those over used terms now a days!! π
April 1, 2008 at 8:20 am #682611Lupin, I agree with Phoenix… size really isn’t dimorphic… I was expecting things like, females have smaller tiny ears or something really noticeable (like Phoenix said… antlers i.e.)… true, my main coon was male and he once weighed 22 lbs without being fat… but I never viewed it as something that screamed “male” to me.
Almost all animals have different weights for males and females of the same animal. However, you can’t tell if it’s male or female just from looking at them if weight is all that is different…
…and that second picture of the female cat you posted, looks very male to me… so ^^;April 1, 2008 at 11:39 am #682612I notice that in most if not all breeds of cats, the female has a smaller (shorter) nose bridge then males and she is more petite.
Usualy when I look at kittens it is through the facial features that I can tell them appart and to make sure I then look at the genitals.
I’m often called to sex litters in my area. I don’t always like it since I always want to come back with one or two, but I refrain myself. πApril 1, 2008 at 1:23 pm #682613I’m quite anxious to get to paint some! I think they’ll be loads of fun! π π π

Yes. Humans are dimorphic. Men can grow beards, and women have breasts. Also, in most cases, body shape is very different. Mostly it’s the beards though.
