Super cool! 8) I love how his marking just get more depth the longer you look at him, like the “halo” effect of the white around his neck marbling and the flecks of color on his face that pull in the colors from his wings. Gorgeous work, you two! 🙂
thank you!!! 😀 😀 😀
October 26, 2009 at 7:25 am #788390Ditto the compliments. You guys are great painters.

The amount of color complication is something my camera had a hard time picking up. The scales have a managery of interchanging colors. Golds, Bronze, and Russets overlaid with blues and purples to produce on oxidized mettle look. As you turn in or defferent lighting hits it, different colors show up. You can see the underlying color in some lighting that seems vibrant, but turn it and the overlaying color appears in a soft metallic sheen. I am SOOO happy with this look, I want to try this on a dragon.
I tried showing as much of the coloring as possible in daylight. We are undecided if we are going to put it for offers here or put it automatically on ebay.November 14, 2009 at 9:21 pm #788395also, he is an OOAK. We will not be making another one of him.
November 14, 2009 at 10:06 pm #788396I think he’s gorgeous.

November 15, 2009 at 4:34 am #788399NOOOOOOOOO It looks like oxidized copper! It’s so beautiful and I’ll never be able to afford it. So I’m just gonna go cry in my corner now, ok? 😥 😥
Unless by some miracle you take payments? (I know… wishful thinking, you probably don’t…. *whine*)

I think my sister pm’d you 🙂
and that is the look i was going for! The name of it is Oxide Leaf. His scales even have slight texture that just adds to the the affect of color play.

March 9, 2010 at 6:46 pm #788402I have a few posts to make, as a few items are finished.
Storm Rainbow
So my sister found another poor dragon in our collection that needed a re-paint.
She did a base coat and I painted over it…and in a fury storm of frustration, this is how he turned out. He will be for sale soon:and here is detail shots to TRY to give a better idea of the color complexity:
March 9, 2010 at 7:05 pm #788403Fire Tiger Special
This was another one my sister and I worked on. I did the griffin in my Fire Tiger color and my sister did the wings. He certianly is special..because he is OOAK. We will not be doing Fire Tiger Special again.
Now this guy is not finished yet, he is our next project….the Cinnibun Ocelot Griffin:
