Actually I bid to protect it, not realizing the BIN would then die…but with any luck at all, no one will want this, and I will still get him, but the BIN price was sweet, so now I’m likely to pay 2 to 3 times what I could have. Darn it!
I didn’t know BIN disappears if you bid, live and learn I guess.

December 6, 2007 at 12:48 am #642711From what I understand, is that the BIN only stays available when there is a Reserve to be met. Even if there are bids on a piece, if the reserve hasn’t been met yet, someone can come along and still buy it for the BIN price. I learned that one the hard way.
Otherwise, the first bid cancels out the BIN price.
December 6, 2007 at 12:51 am #642712The BIN price and option is cancelled the second a bid comes in higher then then BIN price.
I learned to hard way before too!!December 6, 2007 at 12:51 am #642713Tintaglia wrote:From what I understand, is that the BIN only stays available when there is a Reserve to be met. Yeah, I usually just hit BIN, but this one wanted immediate payment, and I don’t have it until Friday.
But was afraid someone else would grab it while I waited to see if the seller would give me the time, so I bid.But if I hadn’t, betcha it would be gone already, so at least this way I have a good chance of still getting it, if I’d waited for a reply, it might have been too late. So I’ll take my lumps.

I learned to hard way before too!!Why would somebody bid higher than the BIN price, instead of just using BIN?
December 6, 2007 at 12:57 am #642716Sounds like we all learn our lessons the hard way. 😀

That immediate payment deal has killed more auctions for me since they started doing it… 😡
December 6, 2007 at 1:12 am #642718The other thing with immediate payment is that if you don’t pay immediately, the auction stays up, so someone else who *will* pay immediately can snatch it up if the initial ‘buyer’ doesn’t.

Sometimes they dissapear sometime not. Actually if the BIN would not have died someone might still have been able to grab it from you. I did this once when someone had put a bid but the BIN was still there so I purchased it with the BIN and the bidder lost. -
