Has this been talked about before? I didn’t realize that the PYO Ki-Rins had fangs. Why were they given fangs and the production family not? Was it inspired off of the Muntjak?
I kinda like both versions equally. The males would look nice with them. I think with the deer, it is just the males who have fangs (long fangs anyway).

I had given the other Kirins fangs ,but removed them. I forget why, I guess because that would be one more thing to have to paint on them , and they were hard enough to do as it was. Here is the sketch I did before sculpting the female; http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/art/m/e/melodypena/kirin_product_sketches_ps.jpg.html -you can see she had nubby, but sharp, fangs.
Yes, the fangs were suggested by a muntjac! I also found many representations of dragonlike kirins with fangs(such as the plastic Kirin head that fits on the large Kirin beer container.) though I never saw any that were doelike with fangs.
Here is a pic of my muntjac skull. The fangs are large!

I have a pair of Chinese waterdeer skulls too. They have larger fangs, but muntjacs have horns and fangs! Bambi with fangs.
