    Love these things!

Weather was nice yesterday so I dragged her outside for a quick picture. Setting is not all pretty and idyllic, but that’s not what I was looking at. 😛

Presenting, “Black Forest”. I did use flash since she was a bit in shadow so that makes the job a bit more garish than she actually is and washes out some of my blending. And kills the interference too. >.< She's a gift for a Mentor.

I haven’t painted in forever, and I sure missed it. I’m already working on my next, whom I’ve named “Yule”, and hopefully my skills at capturing their true look will get better as my painting them does.

Thanks guys. They sure are addictive, thank goodness I’ve got more stuff waiting for paint a d my first Phoenix arrived today. Yay!

This is my first PYO, but I used to be heavily into painting ceramic dragons back in the early 90’s. Something I did to fund my costume addiction for the SCA.

Beautiful!! Done in some of my favorite colors 🙂

Also I’ve not been a big fan of the red eyes on dragons, but this one fits perfectly. Bravo!

Finished up a Phoenix today. His name is Argente. Base of black with silver and then violet interference painted onto each feather. There’s also a tiny bit of white drybrushing in there. Feet and beak are done in rose-gray with brown antiquing to bring out the detail. The stone started out as charoite, but looks more like amethyst so I’m going with that. 😆 It’s fun how these guys morph as they’re being painted. You start out with one idea and the piece directs you to do something else. He was originally going to be white and silver, but you can see how far off that path I veered as I worked. The eyes are metallic teal, and I wasn’t sure about them at first but once I got them popped in I think they look nice on him. Stands out in that sea of purple silver. I mean, he’s really blinding with a full flash.. 😆

Kinda nervous about it because I’m new to selling pyo’s and all that, but I put him up for sale. As much as I love painting, I’ll never have space for all of them.

Very lovely! You’re right about the eyes – they look great, such a pretty contrast!
