I’ve had a number of things framed at Michael’s and never had any problems. I imagine like anything else, it depends on who is actually doing the framing. 😉
December 30, 2007 at 11:22 am #650738oi, do treasure framers, good old ones. Round here they have gotten so rare. I mean, you can still get them cheap-ish at bigger places but its like 4 colors per 3 designs. I buy my frames at garage sales and antique stores, not just for being financially healthy (starving artist) but also because the stuff I like sometimes simply does not anymore exist (hint hint). Yes I admit I love heavy filigree decorated thick gold shiney dusty ancient!
nothing makes me squeal more than a nice ol frame!Right now I feel like a sinner putting my works behind, ugh, glass clippers…
and yes, pretty stuff that many want does kick prices skyward. I mean, its ok, the artist is for sure happy. What I cannot understand however is if the artist is long since dead.
however, if you really want it and its good stuff an investing is worth, perhaps start first with buying the works and simple framing them?and yes, its frustrating not to get stuff because its so sssspensive. There’s so much on my list, starting from little things that are just like… 20-30$ over my budget up to a…. pony 😉
December 30, 2007 at 3:17 pm #650739I’ve had stuff framed at Michael’s too, and it’s all good. 😀
December 30, 2007 at 5:14 pm #650740I was just at Michael’s yesterday looking at some prints and frames. I might just forget about those Tom DuBois prints, and go for one of the prints in Hobby Lobby and Michaels!
Oh, and I didn’t see who the artist was, but I saw two prints of Pooh and Piglet fishing. It looked like they were encorporated into some impressionistic paintings of lakes, flowers, and bridges. Those were definitely pretty! 😀Hah-nevermind. I found the name of the artist and it’s Peter Ellenshaw. He has really pretty paintings!
December 30, 2007 at 6:09 pm #650741A friend of mine went thru a framing class. Got anything like that near you? He does his own stuff and only has to pay for materials now. Its not hard to do, either, though I dont know if you guys have the classes available at the crafts shop like we do?
December 30, 2007 at 6:59 pm #650742Thanks for the yays/nays and ideas, everybody.

Eh, I would have to ask around about that. How much was it to take the class?

Eh, I would have to ask around about that. How much was it to take the class? For us its free. We have to have the class before we can use their equipment so we dont break it.
