Can’t STAND paypal. I recently didn’t get an item, opened a paypal claim, was denied- opened a bank claim which was decided by my bank in my favor. Paypal said I owed them the money BACK from the bank even though there is no signature or proof that I received the items. In the mean time, my account was locked and 2 people sent money without asking so I had $50 sitting in there they locked up to ‘pay towards what I ‘owe”. I called, and tried to argue it- no joke- they told me if I did not pay they would find my relatives’ paypal’s and lock them all up too until they got the money they were owed. I did not get the guy’s name and am kicking myself. I cannot believe they would say something like that. I said have fun figuring out who they are and hung up. This was a couple weeks ago, still steaming angry re-thinking about it 🙄 😡 😡
Wow, that sounds like, y’know, extortion…

Lately I have used it for as little as possible. Yeah, I have used the personal thingy weather paying or collecting, but with only people I have dealt with previously or trust completely. But honestly, it is beginning to remind me of all those old movies I have watched with the shipping yards and the deals, and you pay for protection type of crap you get out of every gangster movie. And unlike Australia, who was smart enough to stand up for the right to use other than paypal for ebay etc, the USA is too friggin’ lazy to just STOP all use of ebay, and boycott them until they decide they are being quite unfair and harsh (But, since they make so much money off us…Yeah, right). I was never screwed before they began to institute crazy rules, and flame me all you like, but I HAVE been since the stupid rules were instituted. So, as far as I am concerned, paypal is still the biggest pain in the ass ever! I’d rather fill out a money order, have it lost, send another, and make up in some small way about all the confusion the USPS caused.
But, I also see it from people who have gotten whatever settlement from them without a hitch. 😕 Lucky you is all I can say.April 18, 2010 at 5:39 pm #810993My concern is on another forum, we’ll do a group order to save shipping from Asia. When everything ships (some of it is special order and people wait months for the order to eventually ship, especially if the item is a pre-order), the person running the group order has to split all the items up and send everything out to the other members, but needs to get the shipping from their house to the other members again. I guess this means the person running would have to add that paypal fee into the invoice now? The person running the group order isn’t making a profit and I don’t see where they should have to pay the fees for everyone else when it’s only a piggyback order. I’m running an order for a custom head sculpt for a Ball Joint Doll (Naruto and Sasuke) and don’t see where I should have to eat the cost of paypal fees for the other members. You can’t put the order in individually on those if multiple people are buying them either, so you really have to submit by a group order. I guess I’ll have to include whatever fee when I send shipping invoices then, just to cover my butt then?
EDIT: Nevermind. I’m going to say no, I don’t need to include a fee, since it’s technically a reimbursement.

PayPal and all of it’s “protection” are a gamble at best. On the whole, I’ve been lucky, but the couple of times I’ve been screwed by sellers, I got back pennies on the dollar. 😡April 19, 2010 at 11:28 pm #810995And you know, a rather weird/unfair thing. I remember Koishiikitty saying her payments got held back, even though she has a rating of 100%. I just sold that candlelamp, and borrowed money beforehand to ship it. I haven’t sold anything for ages, so my money shoud be held back also. When the buyer paid, the money was there immediately, no hold. Yes, I have a 100% also, but since I don’t sell, haven’t since the new ‘rate your seller’ thing came up… 😕

Since the person getting the money together isn’t selling anything, I think this would be a valid use of the ‘personal’ tab. 🙂 That way the sender of the money has a small fee.. not the receiver.

That’s what I’m hoping. Considering the order I organized is over $1000 with 7-8 people from all over the world, I’d rather not get stuck with fees for something I’m just organizing and not actually selling. 🙂
