We have a bunch of medical bills from when we had our daughter, and from an incident where my husband got extremely ill from some unknown blood infection. We still don’t know what the results of the tests were, yet we’ve got to pay $2500 for the 3 hours he spent in the ER.
Anyway, two separate collection agencies went an bought all our debts, then within weeks of each other filed against us in court. The served papers were vague, I wasn’t sure how to respond, we couldn’t afford a lawyer, I called the agencies, was told pay it all, we won’t accept payments. Great, I don’t have $8k in my pockets…so it went to court, they won, wage garnishment commenced, both of us!
Today husband got his first garnished check, is flipping out major, yelling at me that I was somehow supposed to pull something out of my butt and prevent this, yadda yadda. I tried, I tried loans, refinancing the house for an equity loan, tried negociating with the agencies, nothing. Our credit is fried, they added a lien on the house so that prevented the refi, we’re stuck.
Upside, in 7 months one will be paid off at the rate they are stealing from hubby’s pay…max allowed which adds up to about $800 a month, add in that I am losing another $200 from my end and we’re getting hit for $1000 a month, whether we can afford it or not.
We can get through this, it won’t be easy, but it is possible, we just won’t have much money for anything outside of our current obligations.
My biggest issue at the moment is being yelled at when I tried everything I knew, didn’t get any damn help from him, and yet it is ALL my fault! He didn’t call any of these people, he didn’t try every possible option out there, he sat on his butt and dictated what I should try, and I tried, then when they all hit brick walls, I gave up. He’s pissed because nothing panned out and I am not willing to keep banging my head.
Anyway, my blood pressure is sky high, I feel like crying, and I’m very angry with my husband for bowing out of dealing with it, then screaming at me when my efforts failed.
Anyway, I am afraid my plans for many things are on hold for at least 8 months.

October 1, 2008 at 3:06 am #734607Thanks everyone! I really need to win the lotto, but my last attempt at winning only hit the powerball, figures, I hit the hardest one and the rest don’t line up! At least I get $3 out of it.

October 1, 2008 at 3:10 am #734608*hugs* I know what getting yelled at for something that isn’t my fault is like (although my situation was not nearly as bad)… just hang in there, and remember, killing him won’t be nearly as satisfying as it might seem…
He’s stressed too (even though he could have helped you with stuff) so don’t look too much into him yelling at you.
*hugs again*
October 1, 2008 at 3:33 am #734609Hopefully your hubby will sit back and realize what he has done and apologize. It will probably make you feel a little better. I hope things get better for you guys. Creditors SUCK!!!!! They need to be beat!
:spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank:October 1, 2008 at 5:03 am #734610I’m sorry, Kyrin. It’s not fair for your husband to yell at you, especially if he didn’t put much effort into solving the problem. I hope he apologizes.
October 1, 2008 at 6:26 am #734611Hang in there Kyrin. Things will get better eventually. Creditors are just evil and the cost of healthcare in this country is just ridiculous. 👿 It’s not fair that your hubby is taking it out on you without doing much/anything on his part to assist, especially considering he was the one who got sick. Some people. 🙄

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmOctober 1, 2008 at 4:21 pm #734613Hang in there Kyrin. I know what you are going through. I have been there before and well, after this weekend I will be back there again. 🙁 The state wants $15,000 from both of us for my stupidity…I hope all Scott does is scream. 😥 (And he expects me to do it by myself too)
*major hugs to you*
