My cooling fan on my computer is on the fritz and it will be a couple days before the replacement shows up, so I won’t be online as much as usual.

However, if you need me, I will be turning the computer on and checking for messages at least twice a day. Once this stupid fan is fixed then I’ll be more easily reached.

Just wanted to let you guys know why I haven’t been on as much.

You can go to best buy or any place like that and pick up a new cooling fan. They even have ones that light up pretty colors.

If you don’t know much about working on computers I don’t recommend replacing the part yourself. I tried to add some more RAM to an old computer of mine and ended up frying the motherboard. Fortunately my brother is (or was) a bit of a computer geek and was able to pull my hard drive out so I could recover all my information. I’ll never make that mistake again.

Oh and I don’t recommend reformatting your computer by yourself unless you are absolutely sure that your reinstall disk has all the files it needs on it. I did that one time and the factory provided reinstall disk was missing the main “install.exe” file. 😕 Since it was for Windows 98 and Microsoft had moved on to XP I couldn’t get a replacement disk. My husband and I had to buy a new computer because of that one. 😳

Computers, they can be evil little creatures…

Hope that it gets fixed soon!!!

When I had an internal fan die, I opened the box and used a small desktop fan pointed at the interior to cool the innards. It’s not a final solution, but it’ll help when you do have the computer on and until you can get the internal fan replaced.

Mine is pretty easy to work on but then again it is freaking huge and has an easy open swing door on the side.

Worry not, this will be the third time this stupid fan has been replaced. POS!

Hubby has ordered the part online, it was $8 and that included shipping, it has to be a 70mm, and those are becoming phased out apparently, and I refuse to rebuild my whole computer for one little fan!

Anyway, it should be here by Thursday, which will be good, cause this is driving me nuts, not that I am all that sane to begin with.

I’m useless at tech fixes. I can usually figure out how to fix software problems but if it needs to be put together or repaired, it’s “Honey, need help…” I can’t even put together furniture from Ikea properly.

Is the power unit in your computer able to handle the fan that is put in? Maybe thats the reason it keeps frying.
