Granted I don’t check ebay daily, but when I do I always look up Windstones…always have, to try and get certain pieces. It’s a hard choice to pick between Windstones but I have been seeking only a couple things for many years…and every time I bid…within the last few seconds mind you, somebody always sniped me out of it even though I had tried to snipe it myself. Maybe it’s justice…maybe it’s just how it has to be…but I absolutely hate being outbid by $1 every time. It’s rare I am able to find the certain pieces I want for a decent price tag and then to loose by $1!
On top of that I’m ideally looking for chipped pieces, not even mint.
This has ended my down day with a even bigger feeling of annoyance and depression. I suppose I shouldn’t bid anyway since now I got a new major medical bill to cover, but it would have been a nice pick-me-up.
I’m seriously not bidding on any more Windstones. I’ll be seeking them out however else I can. I’ve had it with trying for them on EBAY until I win the lottery and can drop a $500 bid down on anything I want at the last second just to win.
Sorry for the ranter but I am sure many of you have shared in this experience!
February 4, 2007 at 2:42 am #489533February 4, 2007 at 2:44 am #535627I just got sniped for a peacock hatching empress too. I feel ya. So I just sucked it up and ordered the trio in brown from the direct buy page. I love that color anyway. So there you sniper!
February 4, 2007 at 2:52 am #535628I know how you feel. We I first got an account on Ebay and tried to win any kind of Windstone, I was always outbid, usually by a lot. It took awhile before I was able to figure out a strategy to win anything. It happens, it just requires a lot of patience.
On another note, is there anything in particular that you are looking for? I might be will to do a trade for a PYO if you would like.
February 4, 2007 at 2:54 am #535629Lol, yeah but I don’t have the $$ to spend, plus the particular piece I bid on tonight is retired and not around…although I may just have to bite the bullet and buy the orientals brand new and do what I want to with them…shame to taint a brand new one though.
February 4, 2007 at 2:56 am #535630My hope it that Melody puts out the KiRins in a new color or something so I can have those. I am looking for an OW, fledgling, baby ki-rin, and the orientals in any color.
February 4, 2007 at 3:08 am #535631Lol, I remember when I first bid on a peacock oriental sun dragon. I was outbid in the last few minutes. It was also very frustrating because it went for $262.00 and I didn’t have nearly that much money for it. It was bidding on this piece that discouraged me for awhile until Windstone started putting out some limited productions as BIN.
Are you looking for ones that you are planning to repaint or do you have any preferances for colors at all. At the moment, I have an emerald fledgling with a small chip on his ear that I have repaired. I might be able to get ahold of other peices such as a ruby oriental sun dragon or put a bid on an old warrior. I’m just trying to get a feel for what you would like.
February 4, 2007 at 3:19 am #535632Thanks Sky, the truth is, yes, I really don’t care about the colors because I’ll be making my own for my own keeping and am planning to get production color runs of stuff Melody has in the works right now since I like those better than all the rest anyway (crossing fingers for black and tan dragons!). I wouldn’t mind having the young dragon but if its a greenie you could make decent money for him on ebay if you REALLY wanted to part with it. I’d say keep it until you need to sellit are tired of it.
I’ve gotten into the hobby of painting 3D objects and now am slowly building a collection of resin and vinyl and some plastic models of things I’ve always wanted to see in other colors or couldn’t buy as a stock limited run…that kinda thing. Now that’s I’ve discovered that I can change anything I want to by repainting, it’s like a whole new world opening up and now I can decorate the house with sculptures I myself couldn’t create but I can color in my own way.
But ideally I don’t want something completely brand-spanking new…maybe something odla dn dusty with some fleabites I can restore, or a color somebody doesn’t want anymore or got sick of and wants another. Things like that. The oriental dragons I’ve always liked but lately they mean a lot more to me because of the koi dragon tat I want to get…which is why I’m selling off my red ki-rin on ebay right now. I plan to repaint that when I can.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it…and it would have been cool to have a baby kirin with my new lucky flame PYO kiRin.
February 4, 2007 at 3:57 am #535633Hmm…
It’s crossed my mind that one of my local retailers had a ruby oriental sun dragon and a ruby old warrior. If they still have them, and there’s a good chance that they might, I could get one of those for you. However, these would be in new condition. The only dragons that I have that are in need of repair aren’t any of the ones on your list. Let me know if any of these interest you.
February 4, 2007 at 3:59 am #535634Awwww, I’m sorry about your rotten ebaying experiences, Water! It definitely can be tough…and I think ebaying for Windstones has gotten a lot tougher since this forum went up…I remember seeing REALLY great deals back before the LJ community…..

-J R R TolkienFebruary 4, 2007 at 5:33 am #535635It’s true, Ebay has becoem an evil thing it seems. I don’t mind bidding, but I have had to change my outlook from “I WANT IT NOW!” to “Well, If I lose it, o’well it went to someone who wanted it more.” So that if I lose, I don’t mind so much. But, I have been sniped, and sniped others. I will admit. But since I got on this forum, well, if it is someone I recognize, then I leave it alone. I am not here to destroy hopes for other colletors, but to also try to realize that my dreams and hopes for my colleciton are also within reach. But there are always other sculpts I want that are still available and not retired, so I get those when I see nothing I absolutely have to have on Evilbay(or if I want it and someone else has already bid on it). 😀
February 4, 2007 at 6:31 am #535636I’ll see what the shop I find all my Windstones has. They surprised me last time I was there by having an emerald spectral dragon. I looked at it with my hubby and thought 149 wasn’t bad, but it was Christmas so I passed it up. Low and behold, hubby bought it for me when I wasn’t looking!
I’ll make a list for everyone and post it in the flea market.
Ebay sucks. I never even try anymore. I always get sniped! Though I am eyeing Arlla’s griffin…
February 4, 2007 at 6:41 am #535637$149 for an Emerald Riser is not “not bad,” Phoenix, it’s awesome! You have a very good husband.
February 4, 2007 at 6:55 am #535638Ebay is eeeevil….yet so addictive…. 😯

Yeah, my husband’s “not bad” 😆
I honestly don’t know what the different colors cost these days.
The spectal dragon did have the little crystals broken. We noticed it when we got him home and was kind of bummed. Maybe that’s why he was priced that way. -
