Is it acceptable to win something, want something else later on and just auction something off for charity JUST to possibly get something else??
Sorry and maybe it’s just me but that does not seem right to me??
Kind of like stacking the deck? When will it end after you have won and recycled every possible prize??
I thought this VERY Generious act was for give each winner something he/she REALLY wanted that is why you have the option NOT to enter if the peice is not to your liking.
Sorry for the *RANT* but that comment just did not sit right with me when there are SEVERAL out there that might REALLY want these peices
I think the Fledgie is one of the smallest prizes we have seen so far BUT there are SEVERAL of us out here that REALLY like the Fledgie even if he does seem to have attitude. Shouldn’t he go to a perm home right off the bat??

I have had some of the same thoughts as you, DM. Not a rant at all, or an attack 49ER, but these practices do make me wonder why I should wait for something I like to enter. I feel like a sucker for trying to do what I think is the right thing by waiting.

Also, I have issues with the rule of giving it away to someone who likes it more (Is this still a rule?). In that case, a lot of us forum members have friends dying for this stuff; why aren’t I just entering with them as the percentages for win would be higher (let me know if I’m doing my stats wrong) and then if I win give it to them and then just reenter? I guess Melody has a lot of faith in us. Not that I want to break her trust, but the sucker thing comes to mind again πŸ˜†

first–I never said I did not want the fledge, because I do
second–I have not won any raffles, so I am eligible to enter a Raffle
third–As much as love the turquoise fledgie, as do you, I am certain, that if an Armament SK came up later on for raffle, I would rather enter that raffle, as would you. However, odds are, an Armament SK will NOT be raffled, so in the meantime, I will not be sitting out all of the other raffles waiting for it to be…
fourth–there are deserving charities in my area, so in my WILDEST dreams (or yours), if I should be so lucky as to win ONE raffle, and THEN a SK OF MY DREAMS comes up for raffle, then I will be able to have the privilege of raffling off my raffle prize for the charity of my choice, and the person who gets my raffle prize will still not be precluded from entering future raffle drawings.
But first and foremost, DM, I said what I said in jest, because I don’t seriously believe that my odds of winning the raffle are that high, but if I did win it, I would be happy as could be. But I do think you took me a little too seriously… :spank:

          EXACTLY!!
Not a personal attack on anyone
Melody LOVES us and does Trust us
It just does not seem right to win 100 raffles that you really
DON’T want just to win and prevent someone else from REALLY getting a prize they want
I just thought about the word bookkie.
*hey come over here and look at all the prizes I have over here*

Also how long is it going to take to auction the prize off? How do we know for sure it will be sold by the time the next auction is won??

          #773814

Who won 100 Raffles??? Aren’t you over-exaggerating just a little?

WAY over exaggerated but just making a point here
I’m in all the raffles too, well unless it’s just really NOT my cup of tea.
As I stated it was a GENERAL statment about the raffles NOT directed at a specific person it has just been in my brian since they started WAY BACK WHEN and I finally HAD to say somethinig sorry if you felt it was directed towards just you. AND it looks like I was not the only one having these thoughts

**just an additional note I have a felling a SK is NEVER going to be raffled off, just my thoughts though, We have seen en Emperor and Lap so who knows???**

            #773816

I already said a SK would probably never be raffled off, that is why I enter this one, but for the record, I have only entered 3 raffles so far, won ZERO, so I have a LONG way to go before winning 100, and becoming a “bookie”. But when you put my remark in quotes, and then go on a rant, yeah, it kind of does look like it’s directed at me! πŸ™„

I think your argument is a little silly DM. (now don’t get all upset, I’m just saying) I am DEFINALY entering, but honestly. Even if I I won, and loved the little guy to death and another Bengal Flap cat came along, you bet your butt I’d be doing my own raffle for another chance to enter and win the bengal (keep in mind it would be like a 1 and 100 shot that I would even win again ANYWAY, even if I had that exact scenario) Plus I would probably have to be crazy to sacrifice a piece for the 1% chance fo getting picked again. I don’t think it’s a worthwhile endevor to even worry about. Seriously, how many people have won these raffles who have never even made a post in the whole history of being in the forum!? I think this is a silly thing to start picking on eachother about. More people enter then we think so no fighting! πŸ˜‰

Even if, (which I don’t agree with and I think is totaly wrong and worth your argument) but even if I decided to enter every single raffle and then sell my winnings for profit for myself so I could keep entering over and over. Seriously! The odds of actually being able to win a second raffle is really next to nothing so even that is something that doesn’t even bother me. I’m more bothered that people who I’ve never even heard of keep winning, but what are you going to do? It’s melody’s raffle and as she said, she kind of makes the rules as she goes along. She’s very generous and I think if someone was abusing this privelidge it wouldn’t go unnoticed.

You are quite welcome to re-enter the raffle if you decide you would rather try for something else, as long as it is given away for free, or sold and the $$ donated to charity. I am having people enter each raffle separately because some of you only collect, say, griffins, and aren’t interested in Poads or something. I hate the idea of somebody winning something they don’t really want when others are peeing on themselves for it!

I can see DM’s point, though I’m sorry it ended up looking like it was aimed at 49er (not intended by him I’m sure, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time). Personally, I haven’t entered yet that I remember, though Blackwatch tempted me. I have a very narrow focus on my collection, so let others who would appreciate a piece more have my chance. The way my luck runs, the piece i’d win would be something I don’t even like! Since there are so very many participants, though, your chances of winning twice seem slim, and tastes change so you may fall out of love with a piece- or not like it as much as you thought you would to begin with. So I guess I’m glad Melody was so generous to give us the chance to try again, but would hope none of us abuse it.

I am not really into this lil guy. Like my name says I LOVE GRIFFINS! Although I will go for Dragons from time to time πŸ™‚
