This is a commission for the hardest PYO to photograph ever. (Post edited with more accurate pictures)

Today, the sun graced us with its presence, so I was able to take satisfactory pics. Also, in case anyone else out there doesn’t know this, taking a picture of a basically black PYO on black background = bad and frustrating idea. Just saying.

His owner has an absolutely gorgeous all black horse named Joep – and this is his portrait. His rump and the tips of his mane are sunbleached, and he has blue reflection in the front. I therefore had a blast with metallic paints for an interference look.

I’m really happy with how the horn turned out; it’s metallic gunmetal grey, with metallic black detail.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and I can take non-flash pictures before he goes home – he’s ready to go!

Nope, they’re brown. The flash discolored them.

          I needz good lighting 🙁

Very nice unicorn. You can make out what the colors looks like in the close up shot you took. I like how you painted his horn. The eyes look like they could be albino. He came out lovely.

With black, you can go with basically any eye color; with this scheme, red or grey eyes would also have looked good.

Lol!!!! I was looking at “new posts” and saw this… “Joep Unicorn”. My heart skipped acbeat because, well, “Joep” is just not a name you hear/see often, if ever. That plus unicorn????? I was definitly all over that. When I saw that it was my PYO, I was like 0000hhhhhh!
Ok, seriously, those pictures do him no justice! Omg, not even close. The color and blending that you did was fabulous! I can’t wait to have him! Thank you so much for taking this on!!!

For others who want to know what the real one looks like 🙂
Here is my pride and joy, my real life uni 🙂
I can post better pics later but I don’t have any real good ones to get a link from yet. You can see some of the blues and coppery/bronze highlights in his coat.

Dragonmedley: you did a fabulous job!!! Thank you again!

New photos are gorgeous, you did a great job! Photographing black things is always very difficult, I have the same issue! 🙂
