I want to know if she has any experience with the course kind…
November 11, 2007 at 5:12 pm #629981I use the fine. I’ve tried the coarse before– I just don’t like the gainyness it adds, personally. Some people might like this effect! Like there is a very fine grit to the finished thing when I am done. This is usually not notable in things that have fur or feathers, but bothers me on smooth scales. It is a personal preference only.

November 11, 2007 at 11:35 pm #629983When I go buy paint I’m really disorganized…I just kinda go, “Ooooh, I like that!” and toss it to the pile… 😆 Gives a hodge podge mix of stuff when you’re working. 😯

Interference, layered to create the colors. I’ve never painted any of my pieces with metallics. I don’t like the way they look.

I guess these should last me 10 years if they are still good by that time 😀 🙁Oh yeh…Nam I can’t find any Decoart Staining and Antiquing Medium anywhere here in Canada. You would not be interested in selling me a bottle would you?

If she can’t help you, let me know. I have a store an hour away that I can get some from. If you want it soon I would need to know so I can go get some. I will be going visiting starting Saturday (11/17) and I’m not sure when exactly I’ll be back home in December.
November 12, 2007 at 10:46 am #629989Nam, what brand of powder do you use, like the stuff you painted the emperors with? And how on earth do you apply that stuff?? (do they make a nice red color? Because as we all know, all the shiny red paint out there SUCKS)

-J R R TolkienNovember 13, 2007 at 2:29 am #629990I have to order the Decoart Staining Gel. No one near me has it! Just type it into google and you’ll find an online store that sells it.
My powder pigments supplier is a secret! Sorry! But the PearlEx powders are very close and I use them a little bit sometimes.

My art: featherdust.comNovember 17, 2007 at 2:27 pm #629991Good news! I found some Decoart Staining and Antiquing Medium at Michael’s. The sales person told me that they just started to carry it. YAY! 😀
Thank you Pegasi for your offer, you are very kind. I will remember this.
Nam mentions a Krylon brand acrylic sealant, is that the same has the Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear finish?

The sale person did not know what I was talking about when I asked her for some Krylon brand acrylic sealant.Yes. I get mine from … walmart *whispers* because no one else around me carries it and many places charge extra to ship it because it is contents under pressure.
They make it in gloss, satin and matte.

I can only get it in gloss and I hate it! I would prefer in satin. I’ll have to keep looking for some 🙄 I asked the stores around here and up to 120KM away and they only carry in gloss because it is the most popular. Leave it to me to like something different!
November 19, 2007 at 3:46 am #629994Check in the spraypaint section of your local hardware stores or any store that carries spray paint! Most places will carry the Krylon clear coats in the spray paint section. I can’t find it in many art supply stores, but hardware suppliers carry it frequently.
