Woohoo! Isn’t nice to see the being in you?
Don’t know if you want help from me, but we named our daughter Chinook.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

Those of you with children….I’m curious….did you name your children the name you picked before they were born or did you pick another name after they were born?
My daughter ended up with a completely different name than what I picked out, but my son was named as planned.

We picked names before we were pregnant-the wishful thinking stage-and our son got it.August 15, 2007 at 9:19 pm #608289purpledoggy wrote:Oh lord I knew it would be a girl. I can’t come up with a single girl name, lol. She wouldn’t hold still for most of the sonogram and the tech had to keep poking her so she could get a good picture. Now I have a reason to do that unicorn cross stitch pattern I’ve had for two years.
Congrats Purpledoggy! Hope all goes well for your growing family!
August 15, 2007 at 9:29 pm #608290CONGRATS!!!!
That’s so nice of you to share the sonogram!
I tend to like different names (mines different), I think there are way to many Jennifers and Sarahs in the world, but not too different. I grew up with a girl who had been cursed with Crysta(first) Chanda(middle and pronounced with a ‘sh’) Lier(The family last name) and looked after a little girl who was named Shiyardiya.
Some names Ive always liked
– Ilea
– Arianwen (Welsh, think it means white hair)
– Ceidleh (Celtic, pronounced KAY-LEE)
– Aurora
– RhiannonI was supposed to be..
Mum wanted Sheila Marie or Tammy Lyn.
Dad wanted Esmerelda

We had a girl’s name (Caitlyn Aiyana) picked and a boy’s name picked. After we found out we were having a boy we started referring to him by his name. We had to be careful picking names because it would be easy to get picked on when you add our last name – Haire. We stayed away from animals and colors. He ended up Gavin Alexander.

Engaged to a WeaselAugust 16, 2007 at 1:03 am #608294Congrats! Thanks for sharing the sonogram. She’s adorable.
Names are hard. I’m the third daughter and evidently Mom and Dad went back and forth a lot with my name. One day Mom was in the kitchen and asked my oldest sister (who was 3 at the time) to ask Dad what he thought of Pamela. So she goes and asks him “what do you think of Camel for the new baby.” So, of course, they named me Pamela so they could tell that story over and over and over and over….
Personally, I think parents should ask themselves if THEY would want to be called a particular name. Some of the names these days are down right silly and I think the parents should start saving in case the child stuck with a weird name wants to change it. I think it was Australia that refused to let a couple name their kid 4Real so they are planning on naming him Superman. But that’s just me.
August 16, 2007 at 1:48 am #608295get her to LOVE Windstones from the start!! Put them in her room to get used to Quailty in her life
August 16, 2007 at 2:10 am #608296I ordered a pyo muse for the baby and I’m going to get a dragon and griffin too. I told hubby I would paint his griffin first (he wants a blue jay griffin) so I’m waiting to order one for the baby. If Meloday makes any pink dragons I’ll get those too.
August 16, 2007 at 2:31 am #608297Congrats! I am sure she will be well loved!!!
I always liked the movie LadyHawke and I just love Rutger Hauer on the big black horse….the lady in the movie was named Isabeau…
So for me…the name Isabeau for a girl just seems perfect. I like Isabelle or Isabella and Elizabeth or Elizabetha also….
These names are classic, beautiful and easily made into short nicknames…they all seem so romantic! Just a suggestion and if you haven’t seen LadyHawke…go rent it….it will make your day!!!

Totally agree. Great movie. Matthew Broderick is really funny in it and the horse is one of the most beautiful horses I’ve ever seen.
Sorry, slight hijack, I now return you to the “YEAH! It’s a girl thread.”
