Ya goes to hell! Well when I got laid off my idiot boss said I would be eligible for Cobra and it would cost me only about $35 a month! Okay, sounds good and I’ll get the same coverage I currently have! Should have known—WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! 🙄 🙄 😡 Idiot never could get things right. I got my forms to fill out today and it was the full amount of what this coverage costs like $1300!!!!! I called the place that sent the form and was told that nope, no $35 a month deal, but I would be eligible for a subsidy that I would only pay 35% of what the total cost of coverage would be. Copious amounts of poo–that would cost over $400 a month!!!! Geeeeezzzzz!

So I’m off looking to see if I can find affordable coverage–on unemployment–won’t be able to afford to pay $400 a month for something like this! I really see my dentist and have my vision checked more often than I go to doctors so just need something that would cover castrophic illness or accidents! I can’t eat because I’ll be shelling out for insurance! Congratulations to that idiot for screwing me over and my *(*&# coworker who I’m sure as in on it as well. Just shot a short email to her explaining my ‘package deal’ and said to pass it on so they could pat themselves on the back! They’ll be laying her off next–after she shows them how to use the new software and pretty much this is what will happen to her as well!

What goes around comes around! 👿 How would they like it if this were to happen to their widowed wives and children! 👿

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. When my husband lost his job a while back, I had to insure us… $1,200 per month for just the two of us, married. No deltal or vision. Because I am self employed, the cost was very high. I could only afford two months before we had to drop the coverage… I couldn’t afford any more beyond that. People always tell me how lucky I am to be working for myself. Hah! 🙁

Lucky in that you’re your own boss and don’t have to listen to BS–but the expenses! I’m checking some stuff out with AARP and see what they can come up with. Right now, even $400 a month just for me is just out of this world! But I’ve had personal insurance before and when you first get this coverage you can afford it and then it starts going up. So that good deal at $180 a month can quickly go to $350 a month in just a year! Guess I better not get sick! I can get a dental plan for about $200 a year which isn’t too bad–rather have my teeth healthy and some of the vision plans aren’t too bad either–sucks when you can’t chew and you can’t see!

Oh–my former coworker called me tonight and had some of my items from my desk with her–told her to go ahead and bring them over. She was really upset for me and I’m going to take it at face value. Guess what, they’re saying things about me that they pretty much said to me about her! Playing one against the other! She totally sees that–what an eye opener! Then they’re wondering where all their money went–like to hint I was taking it!!!! OooooOOOOooooo–better not go too far with that one! Like I can easily deposit their checks in my account or do something online with the banking. Anytime I wrote a check someone else signed it–told them it is not a good idea to have the person who makes out the checks sign them as well—general accounting practices—and with the bank–I can transfer money from one company account to another but if I were to put some money in my account like through direct deposit—that has to be approved by someone else! She even said no way—where is she doing this!!!

I’ve told these idiots that a lot of money was pissed away on the company credit cards by them! Give me a break–I see $5,000 in legit company expenses and 30 grand on BS! But he told me they were the owners and it was their money–fine, then don’t piss and moan about where the money is going!!! These people are doing a total turn coat here–and my coworker sees it! Yep, what goes around comes around–now they think I was taking their money–who knows a good attorney!!!! 👿

Oh yuck. Cobra is NEVER cheap. A previous boss that I was laid off from a few years back (business changing direction, so no work while they reorganized) told me it was be pretty inexpensive as well. It was something like $900 – $1100 a month! I ended up going without for 6 months, kept my fingers crossed, didn’t do anything too daring (no parachuting, taking up snowboarding, etc.) and ended up making due. Any doctor’s appointments I ended up paying out of pocket for and luckily had nothing large come up.

Crap, I just re-read your post about the part where your former bosses are trying to blame their financial shortcomings on you. Yeah, I’d definitely be looking into a lawyer (at least looking into), just in case. Hopefully you won’t need one, but it doesn’t hurt to have one on reserve. Unbelievable. 😡 I guess it really is a good thing that you are no longer working under them then, despite any challenges ahead.

                  So Sorry LFB!
There is a thing called Emergency Only coverage. I believe Blue Sheild carries it. Or you can look into high deductable plans. It would cover you for anything huge that comes up.
Or may be worth looking into finding another jobs? Sucks to think about, I know!

Yep, I can look for another job but they aren’t out there right now! Probably could find temporary work but that doesn’t provide benefits. I’ll figure something up–there’s always something!

I spent the day reconnecting with people and doing things I enjoyed most before this job. From what people were telling me is that when your boss starts thinking you are taking money from them–it’s really time to leave! They won’t find anything because I didn’t take anything! They are looking for someone to blame their financial woes on–can’t see that they were the ones who pissed off a lot of money. They feel entitled to that and what’s the problem–problem is that is where your money is going idiots! Can’t be that–someone has to have done something wrong. Let them think that–I’m done, but if they want to push it, I guess it’s time for an attorney! Even my excoworker is taken back by this–like iI didn’t sign checks and everything I paid you had to see–so where was I ‘hiding’ it??? Just blew me away and I’m soooooo glad I’m outta there and now know for sure all this is going to come back big time and bite them in the arse! 👿
