Heartened by my success at the pumpkin fair, I decided to try making something else I could sell. I had some Sculpey so I made this ornament/figurine out of it. (it can hang or sit on the shelf) It’s about half or silver dollar sized. This first one is pretty rough and I wouldn’t sell this one, but if you think orchid fanciers would like them I will make more. I couldn’t find much on ebay in the way of orchid flower ornaments. How much should such a thing be worth? $5?
Sorry, I haven’t sold made things (except for the painted pumpkins really) since I was in high school and painted animal and kid portraits on glass balls. I was thinking of painting some balls up too.

The color is loosely based on the cattleya orchid BLC. Ann Cleo ‘Stars and Stripes’, I’ll post a pic of mine also. I thought semi alba (the white with magenta or purple or pink highlights) would show up well on a tree.

Uh yeah, blowups show I really need to practice my sculpting and painting flower colors… here’s the inspiration. (really fine brushes might help too I guess)

I took a quick look at etsy. They didn’t have anything exactly comparable, but it looks as though $10 is the going price for something like your orchid. Though I don’t know whether things actually sell at that price …
