Check Astral Castle; they have great stock. Melody, why do you think red colors give you so much trouble?
The Castle still has some Red Fires and Dave is a Forum member.
And Emerald says she still has a few.
July 15, 2009 at 11:31 pm #775844Oh, this is disappointing. I do like a few of the sculpts in the purple, pretty much the little ones, but so far I can’t say I like the Male in the color. Maybe the female will look better, or maybe a lap (big maybe… I’d have to see the color on a lap first before I can judge.. I don’t see myself liking it on any of the other larger pieces though, not as is). I really don’t see myself really going after them though (money for other things, like the Emp Pea’s I suppose).
July 16, 2009 at 12:03 am #775845Darn, Red Fire is the only dragon color I’ve liked. And no monies to grab. But if there’s fading issues 😕 Still, those dragons are lovely and it would be sad if you deprived us of them. 😥
July 16, 2009 at 12:22 am #775846Maybe silver will be produced next????

July 16, 2009 at 6:01 am #775847Damn! I put off the purchase of a Fledgie until they restocked…I figured since it was such a new color, I could wait and catch up on retired things. 😥 Now, I wish I would have gotten him when I could. *sniff*
July 16, 2009 at 3:50 pm #775848There must still be stock at other places. I need to save up QUICK for an Emperor! 😮

July 16, 2009 at 5:47 pm #775850Melody, instead of retirement, how about putting them into Limited Production status? Retirement is so… permanent. *My last attempt to plead the Red Fire’s survival 😆 *

I’ll help! Here here! I fully agree with this idea! squeek* squeek* squeek*
July 16, 2009 at 6:52 pm #775852Melody have you tried to stabilize the red paint with gold? In stained glass work you must use actual gold to stabilize the red color otherwise it fades very quickly in the light. I’m wondering if your having a similar problem with the red paint. perhaps it hasn’t been mixed properly and stabilized?

We can’t make more unless we can get the paint to work, and honestly I don’t have time to mess with uncooperative materials!
July 16, 2009 at 8:57 pm #775854I totally understand retiring them.. plus it just makes more time for Melody to experiment with other colors..
if it doesn’t work.. it doesn’t work.. move on to something else.. and you know Melody’s got a huge list to move on to..
July 16, 2009 at 11:02 pm #775855Can someone clarify this… are we talking about the color fading in sunlight… or is the color just breaking down somehow?
July 16, 2009 at 11:04 pm #775856It sounds like the color fading in sunlight was icing on the cake. From what I read, I think the main problem lies in the Windstone painters not being able to reproduce the color, which is why it may be discontinued.
July 16, 2009 at 11:14 pm #775857I would really, really like a lap, OW, and scratcher in red fire (can’t afford all that right now). If it’s a sunlight issue, I can live with that. I always keep my babies away from the windows.
But I’ll get them only if it’s a sunlight issue…
