I finally went out to Dick Blick and picked up the Golden Interferance paints…and boy am I glad that I waited until I saw them in person because I don’t like how the Oxide colors look compared to the fines. What do you guys think of them comparitively speaking?
Right now on all my current EBAY auctions I’m adding interferance paints to them, especially a nice purple sheen to the Valentine Wolf and blue to the koi dragon.
January 26, 2007 at 5:09 am #532634my favourite kind of acrylic! ^_^
January 26, 2007 at 4:13 pm #532635Yeah, I just have a real problem ordering paint on-line when I can’t see it first, you know?

Definitely! I even have a problem buying it in person if it doesn’t have a sample of the paint itself on the front of the tube! LOL
January 28, 2007 at 3:09 am #532637I’m back now from Blick, so I updated this post a little. Do you guys have a preferance between Fine versus Oxide paints? Personally, when I saw the oxide I was glad I didn’t buy them on-line. It looks like the fine will look so much more subtle yet beautiful…that last final extra cool touch.
January 28, 2007 at 3:38 am #532638I like the red and green oxide colors better than the fine green and red interference. The rest of the colors I prefer the fine. However, I won’t paint the oxide interference on an extremely light surface because of the rusty hue it leaves behind 🙁
January 28, 2007 at 3:58 am #532639See, I had the same problem as you and can only get them online. I never got the oxide paints, but I am curious to their effect. I’ve used fine and also the ones with the larger crystals. There honestly isn’t THAT much of a difference, but I do like the fine the best so far.

January 28, 2007 at 9:04 am #532641The green oxide is my all time favorite. I adore that stuff. I want to put it on everything!!
January 28, 2007 at 2:59 pm #532642So what I got was the heavy body fine red and the fluid oxide purple. The fine red looks very pretty with a subtle pinkish red sheen but I don’t think I mixed it properly. It initially looked a little milky but it seemed to have cleared up when it dried (though I DID thin it with gac-100). I have not yet had the occasion to make myself anything in purple so the purple oxide sits idly by. Does the fluid need to be thinned at all or is it ready to be used out of the bottle?
I also have on order the fluid red interference, awaiting shipment from DB that will be used on a trade after I determine if I like it and it’s suitable.
January 28, 2007 at 10:24 pm #532643I learned the hard way don’t use it with a dry brush. But, I just use water on the brush to thin it down alittle. I personally love the oxide colours. I just wouldn’t use them on white, or another light colour.
