So at my new job, (since I FINALLY for transferred to another Home Depot) I work with a much older crowd (which is great actually) and I had a long conversation with one of my new coworkers about these trees that I didn’t even know existed. I thought it would be fun to share them with you guys just because they were so cool!!!
These are Rainbow Eucalyptus
The tree bark seriously looks like a rainbow! I thought these trees HAD to be painted, but this is how they naturally grow!!!

This is a Banyan Tree. It starts out as a single tree and as it grows, air roots fall from the branches and become new tree trunks so the tree spreads and becomes a HUGE single forest in and of itself!!!

June 7, 2011 at 2:11 pm #847542When I was in Hawaii in April, I saw TONS of Banyan trees. Theyre tropical, so they thrive there. I loved them. I wanted to plant one at home, but it gets too cold here.
June 7, 2011 at 2:47 pm #847543Just gorgeous . Truely amazing . The beauty of nature is breathing . How they can grow that way . So colorful too . Awe , just plain awe .
Man tries so hard to out do nature and nature wins I think every time .June 7, 2011 at 2:53 pm #847544Wow, those are amazing!
June 7, 2011 at 4:27 pm #847556Something else that I thought was interesting was this “Miracle Berry” that for about an hour after you eat one EVERYTHING you eat tastes sweet.
People eat them and then drink vinegar or Tabasco sauce or eat a bunch of Jalapeno Peppers! You have to be careful though, cause even though it all TASTES sweet, it still has the same effect on your body. I can’t imagine that you won’t regret eating a pile of TOXIC hot buffalo wings because they taste sweet later on with you are screaming on the toilet, ROFL!

The video is really cool, I wanna have a berry tasting party too ^_^ For some reason, i could see people peddling these on the streets. “Yo, $5 bucks a berry man, $5 a berry. You can’t beat that man!”

June 8, 2011 at 10:17 pm #847729Those trees are awesome, I wonder what the wood grain looks like in those rainbow trees! Another neat tree is the boabab (sp?) tree that grows in africa. I saw one with a house in it on TV.

If the Rainbow Eucalyptus is hardy in USDA zones 9 and 10, as it says on line, northwest Florida would be too cold for them. According to the USDA zone map, northwest Florida is zone 8. The online source also said that the trees grow very big very fast, so planting one might not be a good idea anyway!

June 9, 2011 at 2:20 am #847760If you had the proper accommodations you can grow them indoors… for a while anyway >_< I assume it would eventually get too big to keep indoors.
