Those are all very cute pics, eaglefeather! Thanks for sharing. I love big dogs too. I grew up with Labs and bulldogs. BTW… I love your American Bull. She is so pretty, and I would love to have one someday. But not as much as a Frenchie. 8) 😆
Anyway, all my dogs were as gentle as lambs with kids. It just all has to do with how they’re trained by their owners. My husband thinks all German Shepherds are evil attack dogs, cause he got bit by one a long time ago. I got to meet plenty of wonderful and gentle Shepherds during my life, so that’s not true at all. Their behavior just depends on how their owners treat them.July 9, 2008 at 11:48 pm #721439Necron99 wrote:those are funny , ill have to find my old pics of me and my Doberman. I will also have to get a few shots of Hobo and Alyssa she pretty much man handles him like a drunken wrassler and he just lets her do it , we always give him an out for when he is done .
I’d love to see those pics of you and of Alyssa with Hobo!
July 10, 2008 at 1:28 am #721440WOW! *jumping in late* Those picture are so ADORABLE I could just punch myself in the face! I think that’s one of the sweetest things I have ever seen! Incredibly cute! Thanks for sharing!
…I think dogs understand what “babies” are. I understand that it might not have been the brightest idea. I admit I would have been scared in the pic where the dog is lying on the baby, but my slogan is always punish the deed, not the breed… (even so I’d rather punish the people who train the dogs to be violent in the first place) obviously the parents assumed they knew their dog was a big mush for babies and felt comfortable enough for the dog to be that close to the baby… or maybe they were just crazy hicks who wanted a photo shoot and got lucky nothing bad happened. Truth be told, I just think they’re cute pics! 😀

July 10, 2008 at 2:01 am #721442Dogs can have an understanding of what babies are. Especially if they have had puppies of their own, or were raised around small children and infants. Otherwise, who knows? My parent’s cat Sugar hated me and my brother when we were kids (suddenly she wasn’t the center of attention anymore) but Mothball loved us. After a lot of carefully supervised visits between me, my bro, and Mothball, they let her go around us without severe observance. Still pretty close though.
I remember hearing about when my bro carried Mothball into the living room, going, “I got kitty!” and he had Mothball by the tail. She was curled up like a possum and purring… but not doing anything. My parents were horrified I think. 😆

We were lucky too, because the previous owners had Two AB’s who had a litter, and they were selling them for 500-600 dollars each! 😯 They only had one puppy left, and since they were old family friends and knew we were looking for a dog, they contacted us and gave her too us! (Provided it worked out, of course!) They said that they wanted to know that she was going to a loving home, instead of someone who wouldn’t treat her right. But, I do love her so much that when the time comes (hopefully not for a long time) I will browse shelters for one!
