I just wanted to put up a quick note about the countries and regions that are included (or excluded) from the first quest as it has raised some concerns.
We did think a lot about the fact that we have an audience in many countries other than the US, Canada, and the UK (and in areas like Quebec).
The selection process for who was included was based on the following:
1.) We have a reasonable working knowledge of promotional laws in that area
2.) The promotion laws don’t require anything especially difficult to do (Such as translating the rules, registering with the government, paying special fees, putting an ad in the newspaper, using a local vendor for shipping the prizes, allow promotions – etc. And yes, all of those are ACTUAL requirements in some countries!)
In the past, we haven’t used such a formal process for promotions, and in the future not all promotions will have such a formal process, but as these videos will be on the Windstone YouTube channel and videos have certain rights and rules associated with their use, we need to make sure we’re following legal guidelines as much as possible.
As we get more familiar with what we can and cannot do, hopefully we can expand the bigger contests into more areas. But at the onset, we want to be cautious and keep within our capabilities.
