After scrimping and saving for a chance to get one I finally won a hatching turtle on ebay last week. But dispite my suggestion to the seller, the item was packed in one tiny, little box without even a shread of bubble wrap and he arrived damaged πŸ‘Ώ . Thankfuly, he didn’t break, bit he has rub marks all over his head and leg. I need a few pointers on how to fix him. I’m not sure what color paint to use on him.
This would’nt get me so upset if I was’nt so damn poor right now πŸ™ !

Ohh I hate when I read stuff like this…I am really sorry purpleturtle that the seller didn’t take your advice, I am sure when Kyrin sees this post she will be able to help you figure out how to go about fixing him… πŸ™‚

I’m sorry to hear that, purpleturtle πŸ™ The seller should have listened to your wishes. However, I touched up a few spots on a hatching turtle of my own not that long ago. I used Folk Art paint, a brown and a tan mixed together, and it worked perfectly. You can’t even see where he was rubbed. If you want, I can see exactly what the colors were when I get home πŸ™‚

Not sure what colors off the top of my head, but it would probably be a mix of a few to match (I’m awaiting a hatching tortoise in the mail as well). I can probably tell you what colors of paint when I get him if you wanted to fix him yourself (since I seem to work a lot in browns on things). If not, I’m sure Kyrin could help, or maybe even Drag0nfeathers, since she is in MA.

Hopes mine doesn’t need fixing up. I’ve a few things to get in Oct./Nov. that need fixing up from windstones I’ve been meaning to fix from previous owners (I think the worse is a piece of mane missing on a black unicorn stallion… need to resculpt and paint… they covered it with a marker I think!).

Thanks for your understanding and tips guys…Kyrin actually offered to fix him for free! 😯 The offer was GREATLY appreciated, but because I can’t even really afford shipping costs right now, I called her to get some pointers on how to fix my poor little turtle. The rubs on him are not too big and I’m sure I can fix him up no problem. Burnt umber is actually the color Kyrin suggested, watered down to some degree and then covered in a satin sealent. I actually have that color in the Golden brand paints already, the trick is to find it. I’m still unpacking my art supplies from my move! Considering how he was packed, I’m lucky all he had was rub marks 😯 Thanks again guys!

If you paid for him by paypal, you can file a dispute with them, and you can negotiate the cost of the repairs with the seller and paypal will back you up. It’s worth a try, even if it takes a little while longer. Sellers shouldn’t be able to get by with stuff like that, especially when you gave them specific instructions and they didn’t follow them! Paypal really will back you up. Then you can send it to Kyrin and you both win. πŸ˜†

Sorry about that, purpleturtle. Some folks think they always know it better. πŸ™

I thought about doing that, but I honestly don’t want to deal with the headache of all of that right now. If I had bought a big item and paid a lot more and it arrived in that condition I would have definetly pursued repair costs. The fact is, I actually got him at a really decent price and I know I can fix him pretty easily πŸ˜‰ .
