At last, I am finally moving to Colorado! Out of all the job hunting, I came across an art job located in Greeley Colorado several weeks ago. I was floored, as it isn’t often I come across actual illustrating jobs in the market, and even better it was located exactly where Scott and I want to be! The job entails creating hand drawn pencil illustrations for memorial etchings in granite, similar to my work experience as an artist engraver at Hallmark. I called just a few days after it was posted, and sure enough I got an interview scheduled. I worked my butt off creating 5 new fully detailed pencil illustrations on Monday, drove up there on Tuesday, had the interview on Wednesday and drove back to KC after it was finished.
The interview went amazingly well and I was feeling great about it. There were good vibes, we got along really well and they were pleased with my portfolio. They talked like I was going to get it and said I’d hear back from them by Friday. It took them a bit longer to sort through the references, but they called me this morning and offered me the job!!! When I hung up I SCREAMED I was so happy LOL!!! Another major plus, Greeley is only an hour east of Estes Park, and Eastern Colorado has one of the most incredible storm seasons imaginable. Gorgeous views, you can see development for miles on the high plains! Plus we’re very close to western Kansas/Nebraska, so we’ll definitely be storm chasing there as well! 😀
I start next Monday, as my new boss wants me to work with their previous employee so she can bring me up to speed before she leaves in two weeks. Scott and I are getting an apartment there this weekend and will begin the transition of moving our things over the next month. I can’t even begin to tell you guys how excited I am. As many of you know, I’ve been wanting to move to Colorado for years and it is finally happening!!! 😀
