Thats a nice link, Mimi. Is Whole Foods a brand? I have not seen that label here, but we dont get much.
HSUS may not own a shelter, but it looks like they are doing something.

Whole Foods is the world’s biggest retailer of natural and organic foods, but I think you haven’t heard of them in Germany because their ~200 stores (soon to be ~325 stores) are only in North America and UK right now. Here’s some info about them. Whole Foods is pretty popular in my area, and there are several stores near me.
I think their Animal Compassion Foundation is a really good thing, and I hope more food stores start following their lead in buying only from producers who use humane practices. The Whole Foods founder/CEO talks about this program in the first part of this interview.
July 2, 2007 at 8:53 pm #593579I will never support HSUS, just because they get some things right. Even PETA has done some good in their time, but at what cost?

Thanks for all the info Mimi. It’ll come in very handy. 🙂
July 2, 2007 at 9:47 pm #593581You’re welcome! 😀
July 3, 2007 at 7:09 am #593582Oh, and HSUS SUPPORTS BSL. They are very anti-wolfdog, and support having them banned out-right. (yes, I am still ranting about HSUS 😛 It makes me feel better inside)
From http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/wolfdogz/message/45440
Quote:Getting a handle on how dangerous they [wolfdogs] are is equally hard.
“Well, they certainly can be,” said Don Elroy, director of wildlife advocacy for the Human Society of the United States. “They get the worst traits from the wolves and the dogs because what you have is a combination of an animal who is friendly to people and wants to have an outgoing personality and be around people, but still has the reactions of the wolf, which is a natural predator.”
Elroy said human society supports any legislation that seeks to ban private wolf dog ownership.
🙄 Domestic dogs aren’t considered natural predators? Domestic dogs are always friendly and harmless and people-loving? They haven’t seen the dogs in my area apparently.. Luckily Nancy stepped in and provided the reporter with some intelligent conversation.
