Hey everyone! I just wanted to give a heads-up that I will be gone on vacation next week! I would post this later, but I have to pack this weekend (and put my mother’s library on her iPod so she can take it with her π ) so I might not have time to get back on the forum. Hope everyone buys lots of pretties while I’m gone!

May 3, 2008 at 7:45 pm #696093I’m going to Monterey, CA. Just to unwind, take photos of the otters and pelicans! I love pelicans! π Yay, learning how to post photos. π I’ll learn when I come back. I still don’t have a digital camera yet, so it’s gonna be a while. Thanks everyone!
May 3, 2008 at 7:46 pm #696094Oooh, I love Monterey.
May 3, 2008 at 7:51 pm #696095That sounds like a nice trip! I love pelicans, too:-)
May 11, 2008 at 7:38 pm #696096Hey everyone! I came back yesterday, but between unpacking and trying to read all the new posts I didn’t have a chance to post about my trip! π Well now I have the time, so here goes:
Monterey was great! Cold, but great! I came back with a cold (which I’m kicking) but that was the only bad thing I brought back. On Monday we went to Capitola, where fortunately I wasn’t tempted to buy anything. When we reached Monterey, we hit Cannery Row. I was on the first floor with my mother, walking through, when I looked to my left and saw some Windstone candlelamps and wall sconces. I literally grabbed my mother’s arm and pointed, startling her in mid-conversation, and said “Windstones, M. Pena, M. Pena, Windstones!!!” π She was bewildered and kept saying “Where, where?” I dragged her into the store, where she saw them against the far wall and laughed. She’s still wondering how I found them; she was between me and the store, and the Windstones were on the far wall! π Not only that, she left the store with a new Windstone: an Inner Light Dragon candlelamp with the stone finish. I liked the same candlelamp with the Ivory Finish, so we went back three days later and I picked that one up!
When we returned to Santa Cruz we went to a store called Gateways Books, where we saw Maya Hill’s sculptures for the first time! They are big! π― Oh, and my mother left there with a Young Dragon in gold!! I have addicted her! π Lastly, we each bought BRAND NEW DIGITAL CAMERAS!!! I am finally out of the stone age and I love it! It’s pretty simple and the picture quality is great! It’s a Canon Powershot in pink. My mother got it in gold.
Overall, our trip was dynamite! We saw a mother seal with her pup come onto the beach at Cannery Row, never seen that before. We also saw two groups of seven and two pelicans fly right by our seat at a restaurant. Of course, I didn’t have my camera: I had used my roll of film for my film camera and hadn’t learned to use my digital camera yet, so the picture is captured in my mind, but not on film. π We also saw a species of seagull we’ve never seen before! Except for the freezing cold weather (the fog never completely receded) we all had a great time!
My mother and I returned with plans to peruse Emerald’s Emporium and see what new Windstones we could buy. Emerald, you are the first store we have seen in nine years to have layaway! It’s good to be back! I missed you guys for the week I was gone. I was exhausted when I left, too: I put 7800 songs on my mother’s iPod in three days so she could have her library for the trip. My hands ached for three days! π― Any more music she gets, she puts on herself! π Unfortunately, I have no pictures to post; my film needs developing. Glad to see everyone’s been buying new pieces and painting new PYOs while I was gone! π
