twindragonsmum 😀Its fraternization. This rule (Is supposed to) keeps bosses and subordinates from having a relationship and thereby keeps the perception of favorable treatment to a minimum.
Ah, okay; thanks! 😀

so if 2 enlisted get married does that stop them from being able to get promoted if they decide to try and become officers?January 16, 2008 at 11:15 pm #656691Wow, congratulations, Skigod! What wonderful news!

Basically yep. In the army if they wanted to stay/get married then one of them would have to leave the Army. I don’t think it matters if the couple is different branches of the military though.January 17, 2008 at 12:36 am #656695Congrats Ski!!! This is the happiest news I’ve heard in a long time!!! May you have many wonderful years together!!! 😀
And I’d like that address too!!! 😉

Hmm…this is different from what Ski mentioned. She said that the Army is OK with it if the two people are already married, which is why she and Paul are getting married before Paul becomes an officer.January 17, 2008 at 1:11 am #656698I hope one of them doesn’t have to quit. I don’t think that’s what she planned. 😕

It seemed to me that DM asked about if they were to become officers after the couple got married. Getting married before one is promoted is okay, but after the marriage is where prolems arise.

Then you and Ski are in agreement. DM was asking about one person getting promoted to officer after the two were already married (same as Ski’s situation).
January 17, 2008 at 1:42 am #656701Well here’s hoping it’s all smooth sailing for the happy couple!!! (smooth marching?…it’s the army, not the navy!!!)
January 17, 2008 at 1:48 am #656702Blah I worded some of that wrong. It should have head something more like this: Getting married before one is promoted is okay, but after promtion to officer getting married to an enlisted solderi is where prolems arise. Neither Ski, nor Paul, should have to quit the army since they are getting married before he is promoted to an officer.
Back on topic, Congrats again Ski! Good luck getting everything ready in time.
January 17, 2008 at 1:48 am #656703Thats horrible that you have to rush and be stressed about all this. I hope you get your plane ticket and everything doesn’t stress you too much. You can always have a nice little ceremony afterwards when the two of you are not so rushed because of work.
