The doctors told my husband today that they have talked with transplant and they see nothing that would prevent him from getting his new lungs. While these two new abnormailites in his lungs are bad, they won’t take him off the transplant list. They are still waiting for some results to come back from his broncoscopy today but so far everything is looking ok. Right now they are planing for him to be discharged tomorrow which would be great since his birthday is Saturday. So I’m crossing my fingers that he will be home by the weekend.
Yippee! Hurray! That is very good news. I hope that this latest thing passes quickly and that when the time comes for transplant all goes well.
I also hope he gets to be home for his birthday.

July 20, 2007 at 5:19 am #600877I was just reading through this also. I guess I missed this earlier, but I can’t imagine how scared you were, and I hope you don’t have too much of a lingering worry in your mind. I pray everything will work out alright, and I hope you don’t have anymore nightmares. From what you typed in earlier….are you a 911 dispatcher? What’s it like?
July 20, 2007 at 12:16 pm #600878I’m an emergency medical technician and iv tech. I drive the ambulance for the Baltimore County Fire Department. It’s a great job with great benefits. I used to do it for free as a volunteer so I can’t belive they actually pay me to do it, lol. You see some bad stuff sometimes but I’ve never let it get to me. If you did you would never survive the job.
July 20, 2007 at 12:28 pm #600879I got my first aid training recently, and it was done by 3 firefighters who had seen a lot. They were hilarious, actually. I guess they were like you, they didn’t let it get to them. They managed to find, if not the funny, at least the not-so-bad in every situation.
I’m glad your husband’s doing better. You reminded me how lucky my familly was, really. I really hope that once the transplant is done, he’ll have a more “normal” life. My friend did, she’s now got a son and living life to its fullest.
So now, rest!

July 20, 2007 at 9:28 pm #600881Yay I brought hubby home today. We had the home nurse come out and of course she has no clue about my husbands illness. She started to go thru her whole lecture of how to take care of a picc line, blah blah blah. I tried to tell her we already know we’ve done this for years but she ignored me and kept going. Then she tried to argue with me about my husbands weekly blood draws. I finally gave up on her since she won’t be the one to come here to draw his blood. I’m just so glad he is home.
