July 18, 2007 at 7:48 pm #600858Well after working night shift last night I went straight to the hospital to be with my husband since he was getting a broncoscopy done and was really worried about it. They managed to get his picc line in then took him straight for his broncoscopy. I told the doctor doing it that I would be in the waiting room since I wanted to know if they found anything bad. Well after sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours he never came out to tell me what was going on. I decided to go back to my husbands room to wait for him and ran into him in the hall on his way back to his room. He looked so stoned it wasn’t even funny. I asked him how he felt and he said “loopy” and I couldn’t help but laugh at him. He says he feels alot better since they went in there and suctioned everything out of his chest. He kept taking deep breaths saying “it doesn’t hurt anymore”. The only thing was I think they took him back to his room way to soon. His oxygen saturation was only 80% on room air so I put him on oxygen and brought it back up to his normal 92%. I stayed with him for a few more hours to make sure his saturation would stay up and to help him eat and take his meds. Of course when I left he tried to go to the bathroom and made a mess because he forgot he was wearing pants 😳 So now we get to wait for the results of the broncoscopy and I pray he gets to come home soon and will still be able to get his lung transplant. I’m off to work again and I think I’m going to head straight for the sofa when I get there, lol. I need some sleep!

It sounds like he is doing better. That is a blessing. What do they do for a broncoscopy? You should definately get some sleep and take it easy.
July 18, 2007 at 9:20 pm #600860Thanks for the update. I hope all continues to go well. (crosses fingers)
July 18, 2007 at 10:10 pm #600861Yay I got about a half an hour of sleep at work before someone called 911. I hope we don’t have a busy night and I can get some sleep. I told my husband to call me first thing in the morning to give me an update then I’m going to go home and get some sleep before I come up to visit him. I used to be able to go from work to visit him in the hospital and back to work again with no problem but I just have no energy now. I just hope we keep getting good news and he can come home soon. I hate all this running back and forth, it really wears on me.
July 18, 2007 at 10:33 pm #600862Well at least you got a nap. I use to stay up all night long and then go to work. I think the least amount of sleep I can have and then going to work is is 4 hours and even then I am really tired.
July 18, 2007 at 10:42 pm #600863Not me…I need at least 5 hours 😆
July 19, 2007 at 2:14 pm #600864I just wanted to thank everyone for all the kind thoughts and well wishes. The doctors told my husband today that they have talked with transplant and they see nothing that would prevent him from getting his new lungs. While these two new abnormailites in his lungs are bad, they won’t take him off the transplant list. They are still waiting for some results to come back from his broncoscopy today but so far everything is looking ok. Right now they are planing for him to be discharged tomorrow which would be great since his birthday is Saturday. So I’m crossing my fingers that he will be home by the weekend.
July 19, 2007 at 2:51 pm #600865🙂 I’m so glad he’s doing better & allowed the surgery. Really take it easy now! Hope his birthday party is great, but don’t overtax yourself in all the excitement. Hugs & warm fuzzies to you!
July 19, 2007 at 2:56 pm #600866I was actually able to get some sleep at work last night and when I got home this morning so I feel alot better. Then when my husband called me and told me what the doctors said I was on cloud 9.
