I got one of the 10 special amethyst laps and i absolutely love the metalic turquoise eyes. 😮
I think the metalic eyes should stay exclusively with special/test paint pieces for now. Makes them that much more special imo.I think so too! I have 2 pieces with metallic eyes and they feel a little more special with the metallics.
Not all of us are so fortunate to be able to afford the “special” pieces 🙁 . Speaking for myself, I know the likely hood of me ever affording an Ebay item is extremely thin. To me, it’s not fair to exclude everyone who can’t afford the usual high prices of the special items on ebay. Saying that, if metallics were offered ,say, only in the Limited Production items offered in the store, I would be content with that. Like the Copper Patina oriental dragons, for example. Still, PYOs with metallic eyes as a color option would make me very happy .

I agree with this. I have a whole two ebay pieces, both before the metallic eyes were made. Ebay pieces are simply NOT in my budget (not even when I got the two I have). If LP’s had them, that’s fair. It’s a chance for those with a small pocket book to get those eyes.
I would like to see pyos with the eyes though, eventually. Would be nice, but if it never happens then that’s cool too.The new curl is my first with metallic eyes. I like them, though I’m sure they look better on larger eyes.

No, I didn’t mean just the eBay specials. The two that I have I got from the Windstone store. They are both LPs, and the metallics just make me feel like I got something special (like the new glacier curlie has ’em). That’s what I meant by that 🙂 I can’t afford any of the really awesome eBay pieces either (The only way I can afford a neat dragon is if I win one in the raffles 😆 )
September 18, 2010 at 1:55 am #817220The Glacier Curls have metallic eyes! FYI 😀

I didn’t even notice lol. I was lucky enough to nab the teal eyed oriental dragons (be it said when I shouldn’t really have :spank: ). The metallic coloration definitely works better on the larger eyes. Still, it’s cool that it’s the first curlie to have them 😀 .
September 19, 2010 at 1:41 am #817222I just got my first piece with metallic eyes (male cheetah griff #1). It’s rather subtle to me – I’m not sure someone seeing these eyes in a (brick and mortar) store would really notice the difference. (The GRIFFIN, they would notice, but probably not the eyes 🙂 ) I don’t think they should be restricted to eBay pieces because, as noted above, that probably over-restricts them. Keeping them on LPs and rarer might be nice though, it keeps them limited while opening the availability to people who can afford the standard prices but not the high-bid ones.
(I hope that made sense; I’ve got a nasty headache today)
September 19, 2010 at 3:14 am #817223The sparkliness varies with the different eye colors. It’s most obvious on the silver eyes.
I think we are planning to offer metallics as a pyo eye choice eventually, and we are already putting them in LP items. We will probably put them on regular production things someday as well.
The eBay pieces with metallic eyes almost all have test-paint eye colors, so I like to think that will help them remain special.
September 19, 2010 at 3:20 am #817224I LOVE. Love love love those dark gray/silver eyes. The gold vein poad had them for a choice. I’d be so happy if those were offered in pyos and/or lp/production pieces 😀
(I must be a bland person. My favorite eye color is gray and now I love this dark gray color. Does that say something about me? lol)
September 19, 2010 at 5:13 am #817225Honestly, I didn’t even notice my glacier curlie had a metallic eye until someone pointed it out! Then again the eye is rather small, and there is only one. Now that I look closely though it’s very pretty, and I’d love to get another sculpt with them. 😀

You’re not the only ‘bland’ person around here! Any auctions with that eye color choice make me want to lose my mind and just BID! 😆
September 19, 2010 at 9:01 pm #817227I love the new metallic eyes; they are so vibrant. 😀 The old eyes seem rather flat looking in comparison. I have always disliked the old yellow and orange eyes, but even those colors look good in the metallic eyes. 🙂
