My dream job would be a Private Investigator or something to do with the history old buildings.

That would be a historian of some type. We have one at the local history museum in town. He helped us to do research on our house to determine the year it was built (1889, btw).
April 12, 2007 at 4:39 am #560317Wow, that’s old. About as old as our house. π
April 12, 2007 at 1:35 pm #560318Yeah, you can tell this sucker is old too. There’s big granite blocks for walls in the basement and it has an old cistern. There are three chimneys, and two of them are decorative, but I’m sure they were used for heating rooms at one time. We got a plaque that says our house was built in 1889 after we did the research on it, and a nice certificate commemorating the house as being over 100 years old. That’s kind of a big thing in America.
I’m sure there are a lot older houses in Europe. When I was in England I stayed in an 800 year old castle. It was just hard for me to imagine it being that old. Most of the town was older than my house, so it was an amazing thing to think about.
April 12, 2007 at 2:16 pm #560319Our old three-story farmhouse is turn of the century. I’m not sure of the exact year. But the walls are stone and a good half meter thick. I don’t want to know what lives in them. For a while we had a martin in the middle ceiling. π
April 12, 2007 at 3:41 pm #560320π Sometimes we get bats in our basement that fly around my head when I’m trying to do laundry. We also have a chipmunk who has built a nest in the outside wall of my office. That will be fun to clean up and fill in this summer! π
April 12, 2007 at 3:51 pm #560321At least you have usable animals. I think we still have mice, though the numbers have really gone down in the last few years. They only bother us in the winter.
April 12, 2007 at 4:39 pm #560322I have changed my mind about my dream job. After today, I would like to drink beer.
April 12, 2007 at 4:55 pm #560323uh oh!!! I sense a bad day… π

Its very much a matter of being a female in a male dominated industry. Its like tring to get in on being a driver in nascar. Sure some women do it…but not many and its hard to get in on the “all boys club”.
For every one woman artist there are probably 5,000 men doing it. Its hard to get in the circle ya know? I like to think I am a good artist…I just wanted a chance. I mean its not like you get paid as an apprentence.Eh, part of the reason women have such a difficult time in NASCAR and not in the smaller racing circuits, is because they just simply don’t have the upper body strength to handle the car at the speeds they need to be driving to win.
In racing, there is no such thing as power steering. I’ve driven a mini sprint, and thanked God I am stronger in the arms, shoulders and chest than most women, or I would have been in trouble. It’s not easy to do, and you can’t be a weakling to do it.
I would love to see a woman come into the circuit and kick ass, but unless she’s pretty beefed up, it’s going to be hard on her.
As for the tattooing apprenticeship – I’ve given it thought, and there are a couple of shops here in Carbondale who do have women working there. I think it depends more on the area than anything else.

Well, its 730pm and I am still at work. At least we got a surprise day off tomorrow. π
April 12, 2007 at 5:45 pm #560326My dream job would to be a quality inspector for Windstone. I find Windstones much more interesting than my current job, so I think that would work out.

I thought Ski ran across a particularly good-tasting beer.
