I like 2 and 1. The font on 4 is distracting and more difficult to read. I like how 2 and 1 feel like they’re ‘unrolling’ as though something is being produced right there. 🙂
August 25, 2008 at 2:44 pm #728979I like your original one best…..*runs and hides* I think the blue eye really draws your eye to look at the rest of the design.
August 25, 2008 at 2:49 pm #728980I agree with purplecat… I like that one spot of color as it draws you in and makes you look again… *hides with purplecat 😳 *

#1. Only #1 and #2 are readable without having to twist one’s eyes, head, or brain, around the lettering. Also, the word “Grafix” is center stage. Anyone catching just the barest glance of the image could read that (my eye lands on the image at the wolf’s eyes, then goes down to the nose, at which point I can read the primary word that lets me know what kind of business I am dealing with. From there it’s a lazy path to the clockworks and the harder-to-read text). # 2 has lettering that is too soft for a Steel Wolf.
However, the weight of the image feels wrong. It would work better in Japan. My eyes land on the face, but then they want to drift right. But right isn’t where everything is; everything is on the left.
I tried reversing the image and messing with the positioning of the text, but I still couldn’t get it to feel right, and every time I compared the differences to your original, your original always looked better. Maybe the odd balance works by causing one to have to look twice. I don’t know. Sorry.

Actually, those of you who chose the original on this forum aren’t the only ones. I took it to a graphic design community on LJ for crit there to, so I’m working on some of their suggestions for both pieces to see what they look like.
So I’ll have some revisions for looking at soon.
