Viridian sounds very elegant and definitely Windstone-like.
It does sound elegant, but I think a lot of people are going to have a hard time saying or spelling it. I had to read it about 3 times slowly to catch on. I didn’t know what it was, so I googled it and the pictures that showed up were all deep dark green.
What about “Lagoon” as a color name?
December 2, 2006 at 9:50 pm #513380I put this in the other thread as well but why not blue green? Sort of like the name black gold.
December 2, 2006 at 9:51 pm #513381can you add it to the poll??? unfortunately, I already voted and it won’t let me vote again… 😥

You or I may love these peculiar color names, and think that they’re beautiful. But the only color I see on there that would make a normal person think of something that’s ANYTHING like how these actually look is Turquoise. So that’s what I voted for.

That’s a good idea!
December 2, 2006 at 10:43 pm #513384Nope, I can’t edit the poll. We need to start a new one.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

Only thing is when I think turquoise I think of a ring my grandmother had with a chunk of turquoise that was as big as the first part of her ring finger (above the joint) and it’s a pale/sky blue with some brow tracing on it. Nothing like the paint job of the HEP.
I’m staring to like ddvm’s idea of Blue Green, nice and simple like Black Gold is.

Yea, my mom sells turquoise rings and they look NOTHING like the HEP. I would still consider Humming Bird, but I still haven’t picked one from this list. Probably Sapphire.
Got a busted Windstone?

The turquoise fur fabric I have in stock right now, for example, is DARK greenish blue.
December 3, 2006 at 2:37 am #513388A catchy name…It really reminds me of the ocean pics you see out there of Tahiti or some place like that…Tahitian Blue? I don’t know…I did like the ocean name of it though, and I know it would catch my family’s eye if seen, or maybe just heard…but maybe it’s a central US thing that trigures the purchase of thousands of things based on ocean scents or colors…But either way whatever it’s name, I love the idea of hybriding the colors as a production so that if I ever take my friends with me who don’t collect Windstones, I can point at a fledgling or whatever and say, now that is “Insert name here” and have them say for the first time they really wouldn’t mind having one. I got my stepmother the owl candlelamp for x-mas one year, she loves it, but doesn’t have anymore currently…I guess its like Isabel Blooms (blue cement) you have to have a taste for them to collect them. 😆 So whatever the name, I’d be proud to own some in that color sceme. 😀
December 3, 2006 at 7:40 am #513389Good point, Nytetyger. However, I think that hardly anybody will buy or say yes or no to something without looking at it first, and I also think it would be standard for the person who mentions Viridian – or whatever fancy name – to follow up with a few explanatory notes. I did that when telling Mom about HEP or my little brother about Black Gold. No time wasted there. It’s natural to follow up with an elaboration, even when the color notion itself makes sense.
December 3, 2006 at 8:51 am #513390My .00002 cents worth…..None of the choices really caught my attention. However, I really don’t have a good recommendation, so I’ll not complain. I voted for aqua marine because it does look like that to me. Or Seafoam?
I found it hard to pick a water-like name because the color scheme has much more green than blue. On the other hand turquoise to me means those big stones you see in Native American jewlery and to me they always look blue.
When I saw the word Viridian (sp?) I asked myself Virid-what?! No associations come to mind when I see that word. I agree we have to come up with something that is descriptive to a wide range of people. I would recommend something with the predominate color in the name. Green somethingfillinawordhere. Someone mentioned Lagoon. Green Lagoon? (Kina reminds me of some monster movie) – anyway – as I digress – I think we need to be more descriptive than overly creative. The simplier the better.
December 3, 2006 at 2:54 pm #513391Blue Lagoon? Starring Brooke Shields… 😉
December 4, 2006 at 6:26 pm #513392Now that I have seen a good pic, I like Green Flash. It suits. Or GREEN BLAZE!
