I agree with most of what people said, maybe not flat out saying its ugly, sorry nirvana, but when you post something on ebay to sell you have to expect people to form opinions, not everyone likes the same thing. There are somethings you ave to be a growen-up about though, and this falls into that catagory, look at some of the people that go on American Idol because their families convinced them that they have talent, it is just sad sometimes. But I really think the worse thing about this auction is the re-list with the huge price jump, to me it screams shill bidding.
I had been talking privately with someone about this kirin during it’s first auction. I have to admit, I was saying…unflattering things about it myself, and both of us were only really interested in it for possibly repainting.
On the one hand, it’s not a critique unless you’re adressing something specific about the piece, vs. just saying “it’s ugly.” On the other hand, it IS useful to an artist (if they are planning on doing more like this, and if they have a thick skin!) to hear that the general consensus of their potential buyers is that it is “ugly” and therefore undesirable.
And for the other issue, on the one hand it’s very nice to be able to share our thoughts with the rest of the community without having to worry about being censored or reprimanded…on the other, this is the sort of community where people don’t get “bashed” or “flamed,” and I for one REALLY enjoy that about this place – I can appreciate the admin’s efforts to keep the atmosphere peaceful and encouraging.

Yeah… I thought about it for a little bit and then read the auction again… if it was their kids, I think they would have said something.
For some constructive critisism… clean the paint off the eye and the horn and try to stay in the lines a little better on the rest of the sculpt. I dont think it will sell like this, but who knows.

I think he looked like a zombie kirin when I first saw him…I kept looking at him and wish the painter had more skill to use the paint cause I really like the design.
