Dang, I hijacked another thread. 😆 My tests – yes, I had the written French test today. It went surprisingly well – much better than I expected.
Tomorrow I have a 4-hour economics test, Thursday comes math (ugh!) and English, and then I get a week of vacation to prepare for the orals on March 5 and 6. As soon as the orals are over on the 6th I’ll know whether I’ve passed or not. I’m confidant. But I better start getting to bed so I’m ready for economics tomorrow. 😀February 20, 2007 at 8:53 pm #542027Greater Basilisk wrote:Dang, I hijacked another thread. 😆 My tests – yes, I had the written French test today. You know…it does kinda look like it was painted by a kid…
February 20, 2007 at 9:22 pm #542028I love the design of the thing, the excecution is lacking.
Great job on your final GB!
What is it you want to do when you grow up 😆February 20, 2007 at 9:30 pm #542029If you’re painting PYOs “just to have fun” paint whatever you like. I’ve seen LOTS of paint jobs done by people that I didn’t like at all, and I didn’t say anything because they didn’t ask for critique, and I didn’t want to be cruel.
But if you try to sell it to me, I’m going to tell you what I think of it.
There is a difference between a hobby and a profession. The one you do for free, the other you get paid for.
That’s no an excuse for us to be mean, of course, it’s still possible to find polite ways of saying something is horrid, but I do think I agree with Ski, when you put something up for sale, you’re asking for it, really. Even if they don’t say any words, they’re going to “critique” it with their bidding. (I’m agreeing with your agreeing with me, Ski!)
Heck, I’ve gotten a very solid opinion on my purple young dragon that way. He sucks! I apparently devalued him by painting him, given I can’t sell him for anywhere near what a young dragon ought to go for.
February 20, 2007 at 9:47 pm #542030That’s a very good point. The buyers do basically “critique” the work by how high they bid on it. Plain and simple, it’s just not painted well. Nothing bad towards the artist, though they do seem a bit shady with relisting it starting at 40 when at first it was at 99 cents, sold for around 25, and relisted. Just suspicious, not really bad or anything. *shrug* I think if someone sucks at painting then they can be told so. No use sugarcoating the plain and simple truth, but I do wish to encourage people to learn and try harder instead of just giving up. Maybe I’m out of line here, but I have a feeling nobody is going to bid on that KiRin at all this time. I feel sorry for the seller, but maybe if they didn’t rape you on shipping someone might buy it. It’s all in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

Actually, I went up to 10$ with a repaint in mind… I figured the shipping wouldn’t be too much for me, being in the same province and all. And I figured if I got it, maybe in person he’d be better, especially with a top coat.
Keep some room for me in hell.
As for the shipping, I sent 2 PYOs last week, the silver dragon I sold and my swap, to the US. They both cost 10.30$. That’s Canadian dollars, so about 9$ US. So the shipping really is way, way off.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

The whole thing seems fishy. Oh well… it probably wont go any higher the second time around.
Well I went and checked the listing right now and last time the bidding started at $0.99 and this time it is starting at $40.00, thats a huge jump. I agree with you ski, I can’t see a kid having all that feedback, besides the seller has ohter listings. If a parent were selling the item for their kid, don’t you think they would of added that fact into the auction description?, you know something like “This is my kids PYO and is very proud of it and wanted to put it on ebay” something to that extent. I really don’t think there are gonna be any bids this time cause it is starting too high. For those who just want to repaint they can just order a new one for that price.

Sorry to hijack this thread again, but I don’t want Phoenix and Ski thinking I’m ignoring them…
Orals are just a check to see if you can say what you mean, not just write what you mean. And of course to check your pronunciation in English French (easy!) and French (sadly lacking). In subjects like geography and economics it’s more a discussion – the expert will ask me a question on a certain subject (like a monopoly) and have me explain the reasons and problems and principles behind it and we’ll take it from there. And Phoenix – what I want to do when I grow up? I’ve got two options: Go to college in the States or stay here and go into real estate management and work for Dad. I’m inclined toward the latter. Anyway, first comes vacation.
February 21, 2007 at 4:49 am #542034Ok, So I was going to bid on it for some reasons listed. Somethings I like about it. The blue belly scales, the peacock feather in the back ground. I hope they don’t get offended and find the opinions we expressed to better themselves on the next one.
February 21, 2007 at 4:52 am #542035I have to admit I was wondering why it got relisted so fast…. 🙄 And with such a large difference in the starting price.
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
February 21, 2007 at 4:52 am #542036You were going to or you are going to, dragoness?
February 21, 2007 at 4:54 am #542037I was going to when they put listed it the first time.
February 21, 2007 at 5:13 am #542038Oh. Thanks for clarifying. 🙂
February 21, 2007 at 5:28 am #542039Is it me or did the auction dissappear again?
