      Hey guys! Good news!! 😀
It’s not what she thought…it was a migraine but somehow I didn’t get the pain that should have followed. She named the type of migraine but now I can’t remember. It will start with a dark spot in the vision followed by what she calls an “aura” Color flashes.
She told me if it ever happens while I’m driving to pull over since I can be temporary blind. Oh well.
I’m just glad it is not what she thought. 🙂

What a relief! Glad to hear the good news. 😀

My mum mentions “flashing lights” when she gets migraines. All those different kinds of vision disturbances are related to migraines though. Glad you were able to get it sorted. 🙂

Glad it wasn’t what you thought! Still migranes are no fun to deal with. 🙁

Yup, that’s the same thing I get – with no headache. But I’m drained afterwards.

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

That’s good news compared to what it could have been.

What I had is called an Ophthalmic Migraine.
Here is the image the doctor showed me.

Here is what I found on the internet:
Migraine headaches may be preceded by a visual “aura”, lasting for 20 to 30 minutes, and then proceeding to the headache. Some people, however, experience the aura but do not have a headache. This visual aura can be very dramatic. Classically, a small blind spot appears in the central vision with a shimmering, zig-zag light inside of it. This enlarges, and moves to one side or the other of the vision, over a 20 to 30 minute period. When it is large, this crescent shaped blind spot containing this brightly flashing light can be difficult to ignore, and some people fear that they are having a stroke. In reality, it is generally a harmless phenomenon, except in people who subsequently get the headache of migraine. Since migraine originates in the brain, the visual effect typically involves the same side of vision in each eye, although it may seem more prominent in one eye or the other.

Some people get different variations of this phenomenon, with the central vision being involved, or with the visual effect similar to “heat rising off of a car”. Some people describe a “kaleidoscope” effect, with pieces of the vision being missing. All of these variations are consistent with ophthalmic migraine.

Wow. That is very fascinating. No so much so for one experiencing it, though 🙁 . I’m so glad it wasn’t the worse-case scenario 🙂 .

OMG Blackdesertwind, how awful that must have been for you – yeah I see how you were scared!! I would think I was having a stroke, like they suggest. I watched that picture and if I ever saw that I would be thinking FLASHBACK! 😡 Talk about kaleidascope eyes…… sheesh! I’ve never heard of such a thing happening. You learn all kinds of things here on the forum! Thanks for sharing your experience and I’m glad to know it isn’t as severe as it could have been – and totally understand your doctor telling you to PULL OVER if driving! Man!!!
