I have never heard of any of the memebers numbering their pieces either…. 😕

I bought some pieces from ebay that had dates of purchase in sharpie ink on the felt pads. So some people do write on the felt.

I started collecting before hang tags, so personally, I always remove the tags. Every collector has their own thing 🙂

Again…I have to believe that this lady has got to be so happy that you found her Windstones 🙂 It certainly was meant to be.

Megani ….hhehehehe, yeah me and my hubby have that conversation. Except, if he dies first, I will send his unfinished cars out to get professionally restored, and then I will drive them 🙂 He has some really cool stuff in the garage 🙂

Oh my goodness, I was thinking this was an old collection. She had Curlies and PYOs too? How tragic! I also wonder is we possibly knew who this mystery person was….maybe the PYOs will tell the story. Maybe they were on ebay at one point or are in the PYO gallery and we can find out who they were ??? I wonder if any of Olimpia’s or Nam’s stuff is in there somewhere 😯

I’ve never heard of someone numbering their collection though… with such a large collection and also shopping directly on this site they must have been on here at some point or another. I would think if it wasn’t something bad that happened they would have tried to sell them on the forum and get some money for them rather then ditching them at an antique shop. It must have been something really bad that happened…. *dreary thoughts* How sad…

I suppose it would do their heart good to know that their collection made it’s way back to the forum where collectors will appreciate and love them they way they should be.

Also um… not to change the subject…but if there is a green curlie you don’t want PLEASE PLEASE!!!! I want him!!! *puppy eyes*

Maybe she was numbering them for insurance purposes? I dunno, do people have thier collections insured?

Some people do. I think one or 2 people on the forum mentioned they did at one point… or at least thought about it.

Well. The curlie box has been totally sorted through… and there’s currently 25 of them going in a snail-like spiral from the middle of my office. I didn’t realize there were so many.

I guess I should be careful when I say curlie. Some of them are actually coiled, and a couple of them are mothers with eggs. And they’re all numbered like the others Lizzo and I pulled out.

My fiance flipped when he got home from work. The anger has subsided though I think and now he really just wants to know who all these dragons belonged to.

We’re still going to hold onto the Pyo’s, and probably the little pinkie with the photo. I don’t think it would be right to sell them. =/

Lizzie is going to see what she can do about a camera. She’s going to check her apartment while I go through the next two boxes we went through. I’ll have updates again soon.

And I’m very sorry for the lack of replies to my private messages. I’m currently sitting on 60 of them, and I will do my best to answer them all.

I just need to get through the boxes first. ><

I agree with keschete, I think this lady meant for you to find her treasure knowing that you will know exactly what to do with it and will love and appreciate it in a way that only a fellow Windstone lover would and that her family couldn’t, and knowing that, she can, by helping her to take good care of her beloved Windstones, help you through college. (The Universe never ceases to amaze me!)
Given that, I’ve told my son, that if he ever lets the thought cross his mind to sell my Windstones for .10 at a yard sale he will be haunted by one angry ghost-mother for the rest of his life! So as he and 1 granddaughter are the only 2 family members who appreciate my collection, they get to inherit it. It does bring home to me again though, unless I make it clear what I want done with my stuff, someone else will decide for me and it may not be what I had in mind, AND I HAVE TO WRITE IT DOWN!! not just tell, promise, or assume. Otherwise, it all may end up in the back room of an antique shop in the hands of strangers.(or in a yard sale for .10!)
I do join the rest of us in envious heartfelt congradulations on your incredible find and may the rest of us have such good luck!! drgnlvr
P.S. I’d like to put in a word for the flapcats, please!

Then again, I’d bet there are some collectors who are too shy to ever talk to us. @.@ Or too busy.

That would be me. But last summer I told my niece to contact the forum when I die if she does not want my Windstones.

Oh, and I think you can afford a new camera now.

If you find a white coiled mama, I’m looking for one of those.

It’s sad that this woman passed on and her family just dumped her collection. But here they will go to a good home, and I believe you were meant to find these pieces and send them off to loving homes as well. Don’t feel bad about the pieces you found and the price you paid for them. If you hadn’t come across them they may have sat in their boxes and been lost or crushed completely. I hope we do find out who it is if it’s a forum memeber, and if I get a piece from this bunch I’d like to know who it was from.

Amen! And it’s not a bad memorial, at that: how many people will be remembered by so many outside their own family?

The curlies and coils have been gathered up and sefely placed in my display cabinet. I moved my dragons into their boxes and into my closet to make room. I don’t think they’ll mind giving up their roost for one night.

I went through the box of old greens, and sorted them out as best I could. No camera still, but I have some links from Astral.

The emp is indeed a green. He has some lovely purplish tones to him, and not a nick anywhere. He has the number two inked on his base.

I believe the baby in the bunch is indeed a hatching green. His eyes are brownish in color.

A male green who seems a little lighter than this one.

A green mama with a small message on the bottom of her that reads. “You’re my everything.” I believe the date with the message reads ’85

                A young green.

Oh. This fellow was also with the greens, and was the real oddball out of the bunch. I’d actually never seen one in person until today.

Now. I’m exhausted. Sleepy time for me and the new brood. I’ll have more dragons listed tomorrow.

Oh my, that’s so touching, no matter which way you read it (the dragon was her everything or somebody gave her that dragon with that message).

I have to throw my vote with keschete….I believe your finding them was meant to be, too.
