Well, it’s a good thing you rescued them and will give them good homes. You’re doing a good thing. And if it helps pay for school, bonus!
It is sad that we never knew her, and that her collection was unappreciated by her family though. Very sad.

I’m wondering if we did know her though…
I mean that big of a collection and they knew about PYOs and curls…
there is a chance she was her sometime

that is very sad….
I agree. I wonder if she was a Forum member…one of the many lurkers, perhaps? As you said, maybe pix of the PYOs will give us a hint…
February 12, 2008 at 12:01 am #663950It certainly does sound like someone we know, if she had 13 curls and PYOs….how sad…
February 12, 2008 at 12:04 am #663951Then again, I’d bet there are some collectors who are too shy to ever talk to us. @.@ Or too busy.
February 12, 2008 at 12:06 am #663952Hmmm..yeah the curlies are fairy new and that that old at all….I would love to see the PYO`s as well….and i`m sure all of the pieces which you decide not to keep will end up going to really good homes where they can be appreciated….and loved, π

February 12, 2008 at 12:08 am #663953Makes you wonder… this was no half-ignorant newb. She must have been at least slightly computer literate to have gotten those. Maybe a lurker, or have any occasional posters gone AWOL lately? So sad that they weren’t respected by the family for the love their owner felt for them if nothing else. (guess this is a reminder we should all make sure whoever will handle our passing knows how our Windstones are to be taken care of!)
I’m mostly caught up, so am not seriously looking for anything for myself (except a male and female kyrin for my mom). I do, however, have a friend who really REALLY wants a white curl and multiples of coiled mamas. If you find any, I can pass the word!
February 12, 2008 at 12:14 am #663954You got a steal on those. If your boyfriend tries to complain about them just send him to the Windstone Database so he can see the average resale price for the pieces on eBay. I’m sorry that we have lost a collector who loved Windstones so much.
February 12, 2008 at 12:17 am #663955PM’d you . im sure you have plenty to read

It’s possible she may have painted them herself. I can’t wait to see what they look like π If the grandmother did indeed paint them, it’s sad to think that no one would want to keep those at least. π

I`m sure the PYO`s will find a good home with someone here on the forum… π

Whoever this grandmother was, purchased PYO’s. Lizzy opened that extra box and there were two of them in there. They’re absolutely beautiful, but look to be unsigned! There is no felt on the bottom of either one!
I’m not sure what else is in the box, but there looks to be a lot of wrapped windstones in it. I will let you all know if I find anything signed.
Ugh. I feel like crying. And I desperately need to get a camera. π
Oh no. π I didn’t realize that you were finding recent pieces in there. This is very upsetting… we need to see if we know who this person was. π
Please find a way to share photos of the PYOs if you can, so we can see if we can find out who she was. π

My art: featherdust.comFebruary 12, 2008 at 12:32 am #663959Yeah, if there are pyos and curlies….they were probably on forum at some point. Alot of the curlies sold out instantly, so them getting them in the first place means they’ve spent time here. whats the most recent curlie color that you’ve found? and we definately need pics of the pyos…. π
February 12, 2008 at 12:35 am #663960So bittersweet! Excellent find, but too bad the family didn’t want to keep something that was obviously cherished….
February 12, 2008 at 12:48 am #663961One of the curlies is a soft pink in color, and her box contained the photo of a baby girl. I imagine that she was possibly a grandchild, and that said curlie might have been a keepsake over her birth. I don’t know, but it seems to make sense.
I feel really, really sick over this. π
Lizzy and I are trying to be very gentle as we go through more of the dragons. We’re looking for other photos and hopefully a name.
