So, it’s been what, a few months since the Classifieds came online? I have to say, it’s great! Really easy to see the new stuff, the current/asking price. I haven’t listed anything, so I can’t speak from that perspective, but from a buyer/trader/window shopper’s point of view, it’s awesome.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

June 15, 2012 at 11:40 pm #881887They are nice and you can see that stuff for sale , trade and wanted then if they are not renewed they vanish . Or you cancel them yourself . So much nicer.
June 16, 2012 at 6:35 am #881894So funny you brought this up….I will step up and admit it. I am a “Compulsive Classified Ad Checker”. I check frequently, and LOVE LOVE LOVE the new format.
Anyone else with me on creating group therapy? We could chant “We will not check…till we can write the check!” 😉
June 16, 2012 at 7:40 am #881896I love that you can just scroll down and see what’s for sale. I can check what’s for sale in a fraction of the time especially when each item is individually listed and has a thumbnail.
June 16, 2012 at 5:04 pm #881917I agree, the new format is very simple and user-friendly, both from a selling/trading perspective and a buying one. Being able to upload pictures directly to the Windstone site for ads is so much easier than having to use an image hosting site.
I’m guilty of compulsive checking too. It’s so easy, I just look at the New Classifed Ads section at the bottom left and know at a glance if something has been added.
June 16, 2012 at 6:38 pm #881921I have to put in my vote on this as well! I enjoy it, and am checking it religiously as well! 🙂 I love that I can see what’s new with a quick glance at the bottom of the page! Good work Pam! 🙂
June 16, 2012 at 7:15 pm #881922I like it too. The only thing I haven’t gotten figured out are the sorting options. What is the best way to sort the classifieds by “recently posted” rather than other criteria? Since I check the ads so often, I’m only interested in what’s new, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to sort them that way, from what I can see. ???
June 16, 2012 at 8:42 pm #881924The only way to sort is by the expiration date. By default, it is always sorted ascending (so the ads you see first are the oldest ads, and the ads that are getting ready to expire). If you click the expires tab it will resort the expiration dates in descending order, so the ads you see first will be the newest ads and the ads that have just had their expiration dates renewed. The site wont remember your choice though so if you want the dates sorted in descending order, you will have to resort each time (or bookmark this link: http://windstoneeditions.com/category/classified-ads-categories/sale?sort=desc&order=Expires ).
So if you want to see the newest ads, sort the expiration dates in descending order. This will show you any new ads and any recently renewed ads. If you ONLY want to see new ads (and not recently renewed ads), scroll to the bottom of any classified ads page and look under the heading “New Classified Ads”.
June 16, 2012 at 11:17 pm #881930Aren’t there multiple choices for how long the ad is active? So sorting by the Expiration date doesn’t always put the newest ads at the top or bottom. I’ve found that no matter how I sort them, there are often new ads in the middle of the list, so I find myself going through the entire thing every time to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
The ads say when they were submitted if you click on them, so that information is stored. Is there any way to use it to add that option to the sorting list? I would love it. It’s the only thing that feels missing, everything else is working great. 🙂
June 17, 2012 at 2:16 am #881939There is no multiple choice for ad times 🙂 “For sale” ads always last 10 days. Some newer ads might appear lower down on the list though because they are mixed in with “technically older” ads that have just been renewed (giving them the same expiration dates as brand new ads).
I decided against putting an option to sort by ad creation date because I wanted to keep the expiration date column, and people would probably get confused if there was an expiration date column AND a creation date column. I think the expiration date is important to keep so that “old” ads won’t get lost even if they have just been renewed (an ad that was made 15 days ago but was renewed today is still just as relevant as an ad that was created today). Plus, if you want to see only brand new ads, there is already a list for that. It looks like there are only about 2 or 3 new ads being made a day, so even if you only visit the classifieds every 3 or 4 days, you can still use that list to see every new add that has been made. If you don’t visit that often though, I could increase the size of the new ads list very easily (currently, it lists 16 ads at a time)
Hope that helps.
June 17, 2012 at 5:53 pm #881964Yeah it does, thanks!
