Spent 7 hours working on the engine of my car today, my arms are all scratched, bleeding, I thought I had a big spot of dirt on one so I went to rub it really hard and found out it was a bruise .. ow, that hurt.
Had to replace the intake manifold gasket since the car decided to suck part of it in. I wouldn’t say I like to work on cars anymore, probably because I don’t have to time to enjoy it, and I drop way too many tools, but it’s better than shelling out $500 in labor to have it done.. cost me $5.33 for the gasket and that was it… oh and some flesh and knuckles but hey.. oh, and a Saturday .. well.. ok it still sucks. πΏ
March 18, 2007 at 10:14 am #552907Oooh.. Manual labor is HOT! Did you fix it?
March 18, 2007 at 2:24 pm #552908Man, you and my husband should get together. He just spent the last week doing cam and heads swap, headers, timing chain, oil pump, etc. for a mere 411 horsepower. Oh, and a whole box of bandaids. And javex to take off the blood from the clothes. I’m still rubbing those darn dark spots off – yup, bruises! Don’t know why he complains…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

March 18, 2007 at 3:16 pm #552910I wish I knew how to fix cars. It would have saved me so much money when I was dealing with my first car. It leaked oil like crazy. I was putting in a quart a week because I couldn’t afford to have it fixed, and my dad gave me the oil from his stash. Talk about a pack rat — him! He had plumbing parts (okay, he was a plumber), scraps of wood, sheet metal, wiring, car supplies… all kinds of stuff in his garage.
March 18, 2007 at 3:29 pm #552911My dad tried to get me learn how to fix cars, but I admit that I hate doing anything on cars so much (even changing the oil) that I’d much rather pay someone else to do it even though its expensive.
Both of my brothers are pretty good at fixing cars, though.

LOL Damn, I’m sorry ski, next time I’ll take some pictures for you. I was going to take some shots for the neon website and update some how-to’s but I was too much in a foul mood.
I went for a long drive last night and I still have a vacuum leak somewhere causing it to misfire πΏ This car was stolen and got beat up pretty bad so I’m still hunting for problems…

March 19, 2007 at 3:18 am #552917I really miss owning a car. I really like fixing them. I think it’s so much fun. Just can’t afford the car or the tools.
