I just feel so Stupid! I bought a ticket to this reggae artist last September and I was so looking forward to seeing her perform. She just won a Grammy and I was all excited about it. The performance was tonight at 7:30 at the college and I had a really good seat. I got involved in what I was doing on the computer and the next time I realized, it was 9:45 and I had missed the performance entirely!! I am just SICK!! I bought a block of tickets in September for a lot of performers and she was one of the ones I was looking forward to the most and the only one of all of them that I have missed! The ONLY ONE! How in the world could I have missed this performance? I just feel so angry with myself for forgetting what was so important to me! I know I have to just let it go, there is absolutely nothing I can do about it, no way to fix it, but I am so incredibly disappointed and sad, really really sad… 😥

March 16, 2008 at 5:33 am #679739Oh man, drgnlvr. 🙁 That’s awful! What a frustrating turn of events. You must have been working on something pretty important for it to have pulled you in so thoroughly. But still, it was a dirty trick for the problem-solving part of your mind to pull on the rest of you. 😡 Pesky left brain! It can be such a putz.
I don’t suppose there is any chance that the singer will be performing again? Or maybe at Whole Earth Festival? I haven’t looked at the lineup, but it’s possible . . . .
March 16, 2008 at 5:54 am #679740Thanks! It’s nice to know someone is listening! I think part of it is that it was just so unnecessary! It wasn’t that I had a flat tire, or some sort of an emergency, I was just sitting here essentially passing the time on the forum and checking the ebay and doing “nothing” thinking about posting some stuff I’m thinking about selling, etc, but it was essentially unnecessary to missing the performance. I just spaced it! Very frustrating indeed, and very unfixable! No refunds, no do-overs, no repeat performances, not even return engagements, nothing. She may come to one of the reggae festivals this summer I’m going to, one in June and the biggest one in the world in August, they haven’t posted all the artists yet, so maybe, but it won’t be the same. This performance has maybe 200 people, the one in June has maybe 5,000, the one in August has 12,000. Very different. I had the chance tonight to meet her and buy a CD and have her sign it. At the festivals, that’s impossible. Like I said, I’ll get over it, but it’s just so frustrating when it’s so unnecessary! It will take me a little while too! Thanks for the support! I needed that!
March 16, 2008 at 6:14 am #679741Aargh. “Brain out” syndrome, huh? I hate that. It happens to me on weekends, and I end up forgetting to call my folks or start dinner or–this is common–forget about an auction I wanted to at least watch. I sometimes think that I leave too much of my brain at work, and what I bring home isn’t enough to run a toy train. 🙄
Well, darn it. I’m sorry that you missed the performance.
March 16, 2008 at 6:51 am #679742I know! I have trouble changing gears! If I’m doing things at home, I don’t want to go out, if I’m out, I don’t want to go home, if I’m at the office, I want to stay there, if I’m up, I don’t want to go to bed, if I’m in bed, I don’t want to get up. If I start a project, I just want to finish it even if I’m “disausted” as my stepson at 5 used to say. That why I try to allocate whole days to “the office” or “home” or “errands” because I don’t have to do so much changing gears. It doesn’t always work that way, but I try. I tried today but it was an office day and boy! did I get stuck at the office!! That’s where my computer is. Of course I’m talking about weekends, not workdays. I just wish my brain had changed gears a little faster tonight!!
March 16, 2008 at 7:28 am #679743I’m so sorry you missed the concert! A small, intimate performance is so different from one at an arena.
The only way I can avoid that sort of thing, after I did it once, is to set every alarm clock in the house as well as my cell phone. That breaks my concentration and makes me stop what I’m doing to shut them off.
March 16, 2008 at 10:35 am #679744Dang, what a bummer. Wish I could make you feel better… I have missed a movie like that, but movies can be rented. So sorry you missed the concert.
March 16, 2008 at 11:51 am #679745Sigh… Yea, it’s queer how easily one can spend few hours on the internet/computer without realizing how the time passes… And then the results are sometimes frustrating, like in your case. I’m sorry you missed the concert. =/
March 16, 2008 at 2:45 pm #679746that sucks! But that’s why I put a lot of stuff in my Outlook calendar with a reminder on so I don’t get carried away with other stuff and forget…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

March 16, 2008 at 4:07 pm #679748Ack! I’m sorry. I work on my computer often, and I get lost in my art for hours at times. I’ve had problems because of it so I got a program that screams and flashes an alarm on screen for me so I don’t miss anything important anymore!

My art: featherdust.comMarch 16, 2008 at 8:31 pm #679749I hate doing this and have done so often enough I try to always set alarms the Day before (Thank God for that option on my Cell Phone).
Poor Drgnlvr!!

I’ve had to do the same thing, everything is listed in my iCal which is set up to open automatically on start up. Even then I sometimes put stickies on the computer, just in case. Since I work from home, I’m on the computer most of the day. My bf calls just before he leaves work and I still sometimes forget to start dinner.
But that really sucks Drgnlvr. 😕
