I’ve tried to tone down the ranting about my problems with getting my disability benefits but this TAKES THE CAKE AND TREBUCHETS IT INTO SPACE.
I needed to file for an extension. With my last check I received a slip with a “check A or B” type thing. I checked it indicating I was still disabled, and sent it back. And waited patiently since they take their sweet time with everything.
A month goes by. Nothing.
So on my check-in with my doctor, I popped in to speak with the doc’s disability coordinator to see what was up. Apparently there was ANOTHER FORM which I was just magically supposed to know about. So she filled it out for me since filing for an extension is pretty simple (once you know you need to do it), and again I waited.
A month goes by. Nothing.
I braved the wretched gauntlet that is their telephone system today to attain speaking rights with an EDD employee regarding the status of my claim. It took less than 5 minutes for her to figure out that EDD had everything they needed–the problem was simply that no one bothered to F****** process my paperwork. IT SAT ON SOMEONE’S DESK FOR A MONTH WHILE I’VE LITERALLY BEEN LIVING DAY-TO-DAY, STRESSED OUT OF MY MIND ABOUT MONEY.
🙄 🙄 🙄 :shout: :shout: :shout: 😡 😡 😡
The end of the conversation went something like:
Emotionless EDD lady: Ok, so it looks like we have all the paperwork then and it just wasn’t submitted.
Me: ………so…I did everything correctly?
Emotionless EDD lady: Yes, it looks as if someone forgot to file it. It will be processed now.
Me: ……….
Me: Could this please be prioritized as I’ve been without any income for two months because of this?
Emotionless EDD lady: [long pause] It will get sent out tomorrow.
Me: All right, thank you.
Emotionless EDD lady: [click]“Salt in the wound” doesn’t even describe the feeling of hearing their overly cheerful “EDD wants to help YOU in these tough times!!!” commercials on the radio.
September 22, 2009 at 11:29 pm #784391How frustrating!! Did they at least give you an ETA on how long it will take to get processed now and get you your money?
September 22, 2009 at 11:39 pm #784392Well she didn’t say, but hopefully I should see a check within a week. That’s awesome at least! It was just so infuriating to find out the error was on their part after all the trouble I’ve had from the very beginning with them.
September 23, 2009 at 12:21 am #784393Ohforgoodnesssake! 👿 At least after all that, she could have the courtesy to apologize on behalf of whatever lazy git didn’t get around to it! 😡
Sure hope you get it soon!
September 23, 2009 at 2:58 am #784394You mean you actually talked to a human being on the phone that was from EDD? Lucky you! I mean you actually got the sweat off someone’s personality! How stressful for you! My coworker went through the same thing when she had her stroke late last year–trying to get her disability for the time she was off and it was like pulling teeth! Enough to give a person another stroke!
Right now, my employer is on that Work Share program because he has cut our hours down to 24 a week! So far so good, but you have to keep an eye on it to make sure they don’t miss a week! And if we have questions, email them and sit and wait until someone has the precious time to talk to you–could be days! 😡 Oh, have you heard–they have improved–instad of it taking 48 calls before you get to someone, it now only takes 24–read it in the paper! Our tax dollars at work!
September 24, 2009 at 4:43 am #784395Gee I hope things get better for you real soon
September 26, 2009 at 2:56 am #784396That would tick me off so bad too! I hope that she will really express it-because I have had reps from other companies tell me that, but then don’t give a flip.
