It seems like forever since I have really sat down and painted just for the fun of it! I started this guy a few weeks ago and he really has been a labor of love. I easily have over 40 hours of work in him, and had to use super tiny brushes that I cut even smaller. I was determined that this guy was gonna have crisp detailing even tho he is 100% pastels. I think I succeeded. He is 2 shades of brown, with the darker one a bit on the red side. I offset those w/ a medium gray. Not normally a color I would pick to go with the reds, but it works well. I had to be super careful because where the two meet, if there was any overlap the color would go very green. Thank goodness I used unison pastels, I only had to do 3 layers on most of the guy for good color depth. I just love how soft they are and how well they coat. The gold accenting I kept to a minimum becuase of the gray, but I lthink it all meshes well.
He will be up on ebay shortly, with a nice reserve. Hopefully he won’t sell 👿
He just looks so earthy! Like ferrous rocks that you find in the mountains in some places. I love him. Good thing for you that I can’t afford your reserve (no I haven’t seen it, I just know it’s too much….) 🙄 😉
Nice job!! He reminds me of red canyon rock. If this is your first one, you should just keep him. 🙂
