Why did an emerald fledgling sell for so much recently on ebay? (Also, person has no feedback! So buyers were willing to take risks…) It looks emerald and not jade to me…so I am clueless. I love the fledgling pose, and she is a cutie in green, but she sold for well over $200!!!! I’m also kinda pleased because this was the last dragon I bought back in my early collecting days…but still, didn’t think she was worth this much! Any insights?
April 19, 2011 at 6:07 am #842851You’re not the only one who is surprised; I would be more than happy to sell mine too at that price. Since I already have one, I haven’t paid attention to how hard the Fledgling is to find in Emerald now. He must be pretty rare for people to want him that badly, and more than one person at that.
April 19, 2011 at 6:40 am #842852Case in point, the recent ‘Tiger’ mother coiled dragon on Ebay. Went for $1,025. Insights, go figure. There will always be someone out there willing to pay through the nose for what they honestly want and can afford.
Further insights: Buy what you like, and enjoy your own personal tastes. Long live Chocolate Rain! 😀
April 19, 2011 at 7:30 am #842854Haha I’ve seen a few auctions like that recently. I think the recession is officially over.
Hey! Chocolate rain was my favourite ebay dragon ever! I really wish I had bid, heh.
April 19, 2011 at 1:02 pm #842859My high bid was 250 on the fledge. I didnt expect it to go that high(though I would have paid for it if I still won it). As it is, I wasnt around when the auction ended, and someone outbid me. So I’ll catch the next one when it comes around. For me it’s as simple as finishing a color set. The fledge is one of the only ones I dont have in emerald.
April 19, 2011 at 2:46 pm #842862I got my fledge from someone on the forum back in 2006 for $55. He has some very minor damage, but to me, its not noticeable.
It looks like a newbie to ebay originally started driving the price up, but some other folks kept it going. I know the fledglings are popular-Ive been wanting a red fire one for years without any luck-but I didnt think they were THAT popular!
Anyone remember when the old green fledglings were still coming up for sale regularly and still fetching $300?
April 19, 2011 at 6:28 pm #842875I don’t understand, how much did chocolate rain go for? He’s not in the database and the search feature fails when I try and search for him. Was his final price absolutely huge?
April 19, 2011 at 10:12 pm #842895Chocolate Rain sold for $455.00, so he wasn’t one of the blockbuster pieces.
April 19, 2011 at 10:21 pm #842896Hmm. If old green fledgies were still going for only 300, I would gladly pay it, but the last one I saw went for near 600!
Keeper of the Fledgings
April 20, 2011 at 1:26 am #842917I already posted this in the Ebay thread but I’m so flabbergasted I will post it in this thread too – the Tiger Fledge sold for $786.68 !!! :jawdrop:
I know this is a non production color, but HOLY COW!! Almost $800.00 for a Fledge?! Hooray for Windstone!

April 20, 2011 at 5:37 pm #842953His final was only like $450, I think it’s just that everyone thought he was hideous that makes that surprising

Do you mean Chocolate Rain? So far he is the only Male Dragon that I have liked. Not enough to put a “piece at any price” bid on him, but I was one of the bidders.
April 22, 2011 at 4:49 am #843129My theory on it is that people are starting to receive their tax returns and are splurging after a long recession.
April 22, 2011 at 8:15 pm #843177Yeah I am not so sure that i would be willing to buy from a seller on Ebay who has no feedback. That might be a bit sketchy. I guess the emerald fledge is a popular one. I mean I like the emerald color for certain, but it isn’t my favorite fledge. After that though, I am seriously considering selling mine.
