What a wonderful Christmas! Bringing new life into the world. Thanks for sharing it with us!
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
December 27, 2007 at 2:46 am #650014What a great Christmas! Thanks for the pictures – they are very cute.
December 27, 2007 at 6:48 am #650015My friend Sharon called today and told me she wants me over there a lot to take progression photos. I cant wait! AND, they hadnt planned on it, but they are keeping one of the puppies. AND, I think it is my favorite one! The spunky one with lots of white on the neck and white spots on her back.
Tonight when she called again, she told me Bella is doing better and better, so Im glad shes rebounding quickly. And she is loving to her babies which is so important. But, she also doesnt mind Sharon and Colin picking them up, etc. Some mamas get overly protective and wont let you near them. But considering she had constant eye contact with me, knows my mom very well and of course her own parents of Sharon and Colin, I dont think she’ll mind when we come to visit and take photos. As soon as I get them, I’ll be posting them right here in this thread. Im so excited for you guys to see each pup alone- and their faces and not just their bootys! Plus, you need to see Bella face on too, and not so disheveled.
Thanks to ALL of you who have been sharing in this joy with me! And she isnt even my dog! 😆
December 27, 2007 at 5:58 pm #650016You had a very exciting Christmas. I am sorry about the first pup but at least three of them are OK and probably a lot of it is thanks to you.
December 27, 2007 at 9:22 pm #650017Definitely ALL the pups would have died just like the first one, if Bella didnt have human intervention. Birth was just too much for her and she may have had the instincts after a breather, and then went to the pup, but you need to do this immediately to at least get the sack off their faces so they can begin to breathe once you clean the slippery, clear ooze away.
Sharon called me today. She is still really distraught that we lost that first pup (all of us in our own minds have some how worked it out that it is each our fault for one reason or another). But Bella was JUST checked upon, there was no pup and she wasnt contracting or pushing. She was only 4 feet away from where everyone was and I was laying on the bed with Dozer (big dog) and Missy Kitty, and was just outside that area. But she made NO noise. She snuck that one in within that 10 minute period between checks which was a super quick delivery since her future pups took longer to come out. I told Sharon it is NO ONES fault. Besides, many small primas usually do lose their first and/or second baby. Once we got the second one out, despite the latter breaches of the last 2, I was sure the rest would live… as long as we intervened because Bella just couldnt even hold her own head up.
Sharon & Colin examined the lost pup and believe he’s bigger than the others. Since we werent there, we couldnt tell for sure, but it could have been a still born. But when you cut down to brass tacks, the overall important thing is that he didnt suffer whatsoever. He never made the shift from warm and cozy inside mamas tummy.
Bella is doing even better today and the pups are perfect. Sharon wants me over as much as possible (it’s a tricky drive to get into the real sticks where they live) to be the photographer and I of course, cant wait to see the oodle noodle puppy doodles again!
And, it’s amazing how YOU guys have become, in my heart, such close friends. When something great happens like this, I find myself thinking “I cant wait to tell the Windstone gang!” So, thank you ALL for being here for me to share with 😀 😀 😀 <3<3<3 xoxoxoxoxoxoxoXOXOXOxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
When new pix come in, YOU guys will be the first to see them- not even Sharon! Ha! 😆
DARJEB: Thank you for what you said. I was the only one present that knew anything about delivering babies from being a vet tech, but it was still a great deal of pressure. The others were so nervous though in awe of what Bella was creating. They did ask if I didnt mind that most of the burden fall on me. Of course I didnt mind! But when I delegated things to be done so I could concentrate on something else of more importance, each of them stepped in. So, I may have delivered the pups and got the sacks off and cleared their air passages, but once that is done, they still need to be stimulated by warm rubbing (to take place of mamas licking) to get everything flowing. Mom, Sharon and Colin were more than happy to do this and other things whenever I asked them too (such as holding the pups carefully, and another keeping Bella from choking on the placenta, and another straightening out the umbilical cord so I could tie it off and cut it). ALL very important things they did for me that I couldnt do alone.
December 27, 2007 at 11:31 pm #650018I was also thinking that he might have been still born
December 28, 2007 at 2:42 am #650019Everytime I try to view this post on the 1st page for the pictures , 😕 it does something weird to my computer. I can no longer see any pictures from any site. Not even the signies. I have to rebooth and then everything gets back to normal. So I’m sorry to say that I can’t see the pictures of those puppies. 🙁
December 28, 2007 at 8:02 am #650020Yay!! Puppies!!! My favorite part is always delivery, My two boy Himalayans used to stud, and I was always at delivery, My baby Emma I delivered, she was breach, and the last out, and stuck, so i delvered her, and cut the cord. Then she was mine!!! I used to work for a farm in high school, part of my environmental science courses, and the had black angus cows. I delivered more than one calf during those 2 years, now that’s a messy demanding birth!! I’m so glad that you were there to help Bella and her adorable pups! I am sorry that she lost the first one, it wasn’t his time to cross the veil. Bright Blessings!!

Totally agree. I was working around the house today and muttering to myself (I swear, some ppl would think Im literally crazy the way I can carry on with myself sometimes 😀 ), and I found it was about the pup. I was saying things like he was meant for different and better things and the gods wanted to keep him. Yea, some of that is psychological rationalization, but it doesnt hurt.

If you want, I can email you the 4 photos. No pressure, but just thought Id offer. I know I have been frustrated in the past (before upgrading my MAC) when others could see pix I couldnt and they were going on and on about them.
Drop me a PM with your email, but only if you want too. And if you do, I’ll send them out to you 😀
