I just ordered a black and gold emperor…and asked about packing, especially after seeing this. My guy should be in the original box and double boxed…..but I am still stressed….
Makes me wanna vomit…sure a rare piece and such needless destruction……Hope he lets you keep the pieces and send them to Nambroth….
Good Luck!!! Hugs and sorry for your loss!
June 5, 2007 at 12:23 am #584564Maebnus, I’m so sad for you 🙁 That’s just horrible!
I hope that when you get him, little greenie can help you feel a little better…
June 5, 2007 at 12:25 am #584565This is awful!!!! I think I’ll go hug my green emperor… 🙁
June 5, 2007 at 12:25 am #584566Thanks for the support and suggestions, folks. I appreciate it, really.
I contacted the seller. We’re going through postal insurance, I guess. I’ve never done it before, so it’ll be a learning experience. Yay 😕
Apparently I bought from a broker, and not from the owner directly. That may be a good thing in this case (makes it harder to hate him). Ignoring the fact that he didn’t pack the dragon himself, or even saw how it was packed, and yet still promised it’d be packed well… the guy’s quite nice, and very willing to please. I’ve got to send him back (very unfortunate), but I’ll get a FULL refund, including return shipping. I want to scream, but *shrug* I guess at least my CC won’t scream as loudly. Here’s the letter he sent me:
Dear Maebnus3,
First I am extraordinarily disappointed in this matter. The owner herself packaged the dragon and I am sure you cannot believe she did not go to what she thought were extraordinary lengths to protect the shipment. Of course your money will be promptly refunded.
However, one of the requirements of our shipping and handling was the purchase of insurance. In order to put that claim in for the destruction of this piece we require that you return the complete package, with the broken pieces in place if at all possible. Failing that then please send your photos of the damage in an email to me. That would be greatly appreciated.
Until the matter is settled with the USPS then it will not be possible to dispose of the pieces as we will need them for the claim. Once again, I am extremely sorry and extend my deepest regrets. I know that you were looking forward to receiving this beautiful piece and it is a shame and a crime for it to have been destroyed… I am personally saddened at the destruction of what I have come to admire as a true work of art.
Please, take the items to the postal service, along with print outs of your pictures and please notify them that you received the item broken and that the label indicates the item is insured.
We are taking the issue to the postal service on our end based upon your notification. Once you have reported it and provided the USPS with your photos, please ship the items to:
[some lady in CA]
Once this has been done, please notify me of the tracking number of the shipment and I will credit your funds back to your paypal account, including any shipping costs associated with this purchase, including the return costs…
I can think of nothing else I can do to make this good for you and once again, I apologize for this loss…
I’m gonna print pics for the post office, a set to put in the box, and I’m emailing them to him too.
And keshete, don’t worry. I’m sure yours will be safe and sound . I’ve got 2 emperors already. Both obtained different ways, but they made it to Nebraska just fine either way.

Heh. I am feeling a bit better now tho. I laughed when I wrote that last one. 😀
June 5, 2007 at 12:39 am #584571Good!! Glad I could help!! 😉
June 5, 2007 at 1:13 am #584572what exactly will he do with those broken peices. you should ask him that because i would hate to even see a broken up one thrown in the trash.
if he says the broken pieces will end up being thrown away, you should let him know that you know people who might be willing to buy the broken pieces in order to repair it themselves. these dragons just mean that much.
June 5, 2007 at 2:22 am #584573Oh man, that’s such a shame! *covers eyes, dragon is so sad and looks like he’s looking at me!* 🙁
And unfortunately, it’s been my personal experience that the post office will refuse to pay most claims, saying that they will not cover when it’s improperly packaged. They say that of things that should survive a car crash but come in smashed boxes, they say that of stolen in shipping (label found at postal distribution center) never arrived items, and they are bound to when it really wasn’t properly packaged. You probably won’t get a penny back if it’s up to the post office, and the emperor will be gone to the landfill since they demand the item. You may not even get notice of such until after eBay’s 3 months are up, since apparently a single office in Missouri handles the whole country.
Can you get the money back via your CC, and ship the emperor back to the seller COD if they want to take their chances with the post office?EDIT: Here’s apic of my emperor also, hope it helps you feel better. They are out there to be found! (though I bought him new)
June 5, 2007 at 2:35 am #584574I agree with Pip. Was the box damaged at all? If not, you will definately be out of luck.
But since he says he’ll refund as soon as you send a tracking #, you may get your money from him and he’ll have to deal with the PO.
Sorry you had to go through this!June 5, 2007 at 3:27 am #584575I’m so sorry to see this! I wish you the best of luck.
I wish at this point you had contacted one of us in CA to pick him up in perosn then we could have shipped him to you secured to make sure this did not happen. I’m in NO CA and Nirvana, Wolflodge100 and others are in SO CA I know I would have helped if I could and I’m sure they would be more then happy to help also. I already have my Greem Emperor so I would not be tempted to keep him!! I’m very sorry this happenedJune 5, 2007 at 3:51 am #584576I’m glad the seller is cooperative and kind. I just can’t imagine why the owner wouldn’t understand how to pack a Windstone! 👿
June 5, 2007 at 4:17 am #584577The PO will most likely refund this claim, but they will keep the peices. Unofortunately, they will most likely trash it. 😕 At least the seller was very nice.
