I am looking for 1 of 2 things. Either someone who can guide me thru minor repair to my WHITE EMPEROR DRAGON or someone who can SELL me a new one.
The only damage to my dragon is the left horn. I need to know how to rebuild it as the horn was crushed into pieces. If anyone can assist me in either task (buying a new one or repairing the one I have) please respond. Thank you!
April 12, 2007 at 4:56 am #490476April 12, 2007 at 5:18 am #561084talk to whippet…..she’s really great at repairing the horns….
April 12, 2007 at 5:58 am #561085Yea, you’d definatly be better off repairing it. A replacement will run you maybe $350-$400 IF you can find one. I’d offer to tell you about the paint, as I’ve perfectly matched the paint to repair a peacock Emperor’s horns…but the white ones got me stumped.
So, thusly, I concur…ask Whippet! And if you end up shipping him to her….send him FedEx if you want him back in one piece!
If you haven’t been lurking, and really are a new collector, ITS ALWAYS WORTH THE EXTRA IN SHIPPING TO MAIL A WINDSTONEEdited to say: When we say whippet, we mean “Whippetluv”, that’s her screen name on here. 🙂
April 12, 2007 at 6:18 am #561086It’s possible to get matching touch-up paint for the pale gold color of the horns from Windstone. Just ask Melody, she’s really nice about that kind of thing!
April 12, 2007 at 6:42 am #561087Whippet def can help you. Shee repaired a crushed horn on one of my dragons and I cant even tell it was broken! You can see pics here.
If you would rather buy, how much are you looking to spend? Posting the price you are willing to pay under what circumstances (W/ or W/O box, mint, near mint etc…) will usually get you more responses… esp if your price is good. 😉 Welcome to the forum.
April 12, 2007 at 12:16 pm #561088If it’s just the horn that’s crushed you may even be able to resculpt it yourself… Otherwise, as they said, Dr. Whippet is in the house.

April 12, 2007 at 3:52 pm #561090Yes. Welcome aboard!!! 😀
April 12, 2007 at 5:26 pm #561091Welcome.
April 13, 2007 at 3:12 am #561092My question to you all as fellow collectors is, “how can I trust this Whippett?” If she will repair my dragon, I would be willing to compensate her well.
But I am skeptical about trusting someone I’ve never met. Please assist me with my doubts and to Whippett – I do not know how much you charge, but for my horn repair I’d start the base repair rate at $50.
I’d be willing to go higher, but I am very concerned about sending the prize of my collection to someone I do not know.
April 13, 2007 at 3:16 am #561093Whippetluv has done several repairs already, and at least one of those was a rare piece that was sent to her by another forum member.
I understand your worries, after all you don’t know her at all, but she had been a member of this forum for a long time and has traded and sold to several people here and I would trust her in a heartbeat. I definitely would vouch for her. 😀

April 13, 2007 at 3:51 am #561094And here’s Whippet’s post from a previous thread regarding her rates — info about repairs is on the last line:

Here are some samples and price ideas! I also do restorations and custom work. All my PYOs are the same price. 100 bucks flat, but I am easy to bargain with and simple paint jobs will be less, not including shipping. That does include the windstone itself. So I will only charge 70 if you provide the sculpt.
Here are some samples…

ignore the white one!

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d62/cornflakegirlpony/100_7245.jpgI will also do repaints and custom Windstones. They start at 100.00 and include repair work.
two work in progress pics…

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d62/cornflakegirlpony/100_7591_0001.jpgJust plain restoration starts at 25 bucks for chips and small shard resculpt, and 50 for missing peices that must be redone. I will have some before and after pics soon.
April 13, 2007 at 4:15 am #561095I knew her on a forum prior to this one, and she is a very kind person, going out of her way to do a little something for others. I definatly understand your doubts, but think of it this way…you leave your car in the hands of a mechanic when it gets broken, and you may not even see the actual mechanic if the car goes back to the dealersip. And the car is worth FAR far more than a Windstone (well price-worth anyhow 😉 )
Depending on how badly the horn is chipped/damaged, she may be able to instruct you on how to repair him yourself! Basically you need some apoxy sculpt (bought from http://www.avesstudio.com) and some paitence, and a flair for art doesn’t hurt much either. 8)
April 13, 2007 at 11:54 am #561096I never met her before either, but every transaction I have had with her has been perfect. She has repaired two of my peices. One dragon (The rare one mentioned above) and a large wizard. Her repairs are awesome and her integrity is top notch. No worries with Whippet. 🙂 My stuff has always made it back to me. In one perfectly restored peice!
