Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.June 1, 2009 at 12:57 pm #766772I’ve already been looking into what I need for my “disaster kit”. A good checklist can be found here. Here’s hoping it’s a quiet hurricane season. I think I’ve been spoiled by living at Fort Stewart, GA. The Gulf Stream was very good at steering hurricanes away from that area so I never had to worry about them.

The last ones that barely missed us was in 2004 and the one that hit us directly from the west coast was in 2005. We got a lot of heavy wind from from both in 2004 and it did do a lot of landscape damage where I live and we were without power or phones for 9 days the first time and about 24 hours the second. Hurricane Wilma in 2005 took six tiles of the top of my roof and we had no power or phones for six days. I get smarter about being prepared every time. My b/f gave me a generator for Christmas in 2004 and several neighbors and myself hooked up refrigerators/freezers for five days.
June 1, 2009 at 11:57 pm #766776Oh yeah… one more good thing to add to my list of “wonderful” things today… lol 😈
I so hope it’s quite this year… although, I got a brand new roof because of Gustav, completely covered by insurance. 😆

You and me both – last year was very quiet here I didn’t have to close the hurricane shutters one time. Those accordian shutter was the best investment I ever made (excluding all my Windstones).

Be safe everyone! 😀
